It has been an exciting time here. Old Man Winter decided to grace us with a surprise snowfall! We have not had snow since 2009.

Vintage Inspired Farmhouse Christmas Tree-2017

Our Christmas tree changes every year and though it changes I always try to use some of the same elements. You can see each of our trees from 2010-2014 in this post. Our 2015 tree can be seen here and it is actually the same tree I have up in our master bedroom this year. Our tree last year was a new one. I had fun using all the bottle brush trees on it.

I wanted to pop in and wish everyone a very Happy Halloween! It is suppose to be a rainy one here so not sure how many little ghost and ghouls we will have. The Astros are also playing tonight and I am sure if given a choice most of Houston would just postpone Halloween till the weekend.  LOL.

Christmas Inspiration

Well I tell ya Mother Nature has graced us with some beyond beautiful fall weather. Last night we sat outside enjoying Christmas movies on Hallmark and making S'mores over the fire pit. This morning we woke up to it being 40. I can not remember it ever being this cold out in October since we have moved to Texas and I am loving it! Wish it would stick around. Today marks 1 year since we closed on the new house. I can NOT believe how fast time is flying by!!

Speaking of fall I finished up the last of the fall decorating this past week. I shared our fall dining room here  and our fall porch here I shared a little while back so if you missed them be sure to click on over.

Yesterday I went on the hunt across town for a mirror for our master bathroom. I ended up at three different stores though I only needed to go to one. I couldn't resist stopping at them all. I found some wonderful Christmas decor I thought that I would share with y'all. 

French Farmhouse Style Fall Dining Room 2017

Welcome everyone! I am excited to share with y'all our first fall dining room here at the new house. 

Last year we were in the middle of moving in thus there was no time for fall decorating. To be honest I had not planned to decorate the dining this year either since I waited so late. I was already planning Christmas but while I was working on the fall front porch some of the items I didn't use ended up collecting in the dining room. One thing led to another during my night owl hours and with just a few simple items I was able to transform the space fairly quickly.

I am slowly marking spaces off here at the new house. The kitchen is almost completed. Dining room, living room and breakfast nook as well. You can see the dining room here. I still need to take pictures of the other spaces.

Welcome everyone! I am so excited to share with y'all our fall porch for 2017. This is the first year in our new home that I have had a chance to go all out. We closed at the very end of Oct last year so decorating was not on the priority list.

I will be honest we have yet to bring all of our boxes out of storage since moving in. That means I do not have all of my fall decor so I am going thru what I do have and trying to pull together some fall goodness here at the new house. Till then I thought that I would revisit fall in our breakfast nook back in 2015. This was my favorite by far at our previous home!

Throw Back to My Chalk Painted $1 Pumpkins

Hi everyone! Yeah, I know it has been awhile and honestly I had not planned to be gone so long. Recent events namely Hurricane Harvey added to my extended absence. Two weeks ago at this time we were preparing for Harvey to come ashore at a Cat 4 and NOBODY had any idea what was in store for us. We accumulated approx 50 inches of rain in a matter of a few days causing catastrophic flooding in many areas around Houston and along the Texas/Louisiana coast line. It was like  nothing we had ever experienced and we have been thru several hurricanes over the years. Our hearts broke watching hundreds of thousands of people loose their homes and towns decimated. 

My family well we were spared. Neighborhoods just a few miles from us were not so lucky. It still brings tears to my eyes and honestly I am still having dreams about it all. Watching those in Florida trying to evacuate from Irma keeps the feelings fresh from Harvey. I pray and will continue to pray for Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and any other states in Irma's path. My biggest piece of advice is to remember that everyone is going thru it together! Show love, compassion and kindness and be sure to be patient! One thing I continuously saw from Harvey's destruction around my great city is God's love. Neighbor helping neighbor, stranger helping stranger. If Harvey has taught us anything it is that God's love is still very strong!

This week we have fabulous fall like temperatures! It has part of me wanting to bring out the fall decor. At the same time part of me feels guilty that I am able to still decorate. Then there is a part of me that knows others enjoy seeing what I come up with and know it brings a little joy their way.  Over the past few days I have started putting out a few pieces indoors that I purchased over the last month. Till I decide exactly what I am going to do I thought that I would throw it back to a project from a few years ago. Back in 2014 I had some fun painting pumpkins.

In the meantime I have fall on the brain and have been dreaming up plans for our front porch. Last year we were still in our rental for fall decorating so I can not wait told decorate the porch here at the new house!

Fall is technically upon us now though it certainly does not feel like it. I have been wanting to decorate/nest like you would not believe! Fall and the holidays are my most favorite time of year and it was killing me to know that all of my fall decor is in storage. You can imagine my delight when my friend Courtney from French Country Cottage asked me to participate in a fall blog hop. Wait, all my fall is in storage...

French Country Farmhouse Dining Room Reveal

I keep getting asked to see more of our new home. We have been here almost 9 months now and I know that I have not shared much of it. It has been a slow process getting it to the way I want it to be. I am not one who can move in and instantly have everything perfect. I mull things over probably a little more than necessary. I also work on more than one space at a time which drives Mr. Front Porch crazy but hey in the end it is well worth it I think.

It is so much a favorite of mine that I had shared it about two years ago so some of you may remember it. Welcome to another addition of Sundays By The Shore. Last week I mentioned a few of the East Coast beaches I have visited. One in particular holds a special place in my heart. Hilton Head Island is only about 2 hours from where I lived and my friend Debbie and I had a girls trip there.  Mr. Front Porch and I would also frequently take a day trip over. We were engaged on Hilton Head Island.

I have shared a ton about our front porch and well our back porch was/is feeling slightly neglected to say the least. I have not quite figured out what I want to do with the space just yet but recently I did decided to spruce up the backdoor area.

Growing up we always vacationed on the East coast. We went to Jekyll Island numerous occasions, St. Agustine once , Daytona Beach and then later on when I was in my early 20's I visited Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island. I would have to say my favorite would be Hilton Head. Since being married we have always vacationed on the Gulf Coast. We stopped off in Destin on the way home from a Ga  trip and well that was it. We fell in love with the white sand and crystal clear blue water! We have vacationed on the Florida Panhandle ever since.

Summer has officially started for us. Summer for me means planning a yearly family trip to the Fl Panhandle. We have been for the past 13 years with our in-loves. In those 13 years we have only missed a few years due to moves and last year was one of those years so needless to say I was excited to start planning this years trip.

Happy Summer y'all! Summer officially begins for us on Thursday and trust me when I say we can NOT wait. Over the weekend I worked on our patriotic front porch that will last us thru July 4th. I can not tell y'all how much I enjoy having a front porch! It is so much fun decorating it for the different holidays/seasons.
