The past few days have been overcast so it was hard to take really good pics but I figured I would just go ahead and share.

Christmas Past-Playing Catch Up
I felt totally ahead of the game this year with Christmas decorating. I started pulling things together little by little weeks ago. By the end of last week though I could tell I was going to get knocked down but I kept pushing thru. I was able to get a few things done and started on our Christmas porch over the weekend. By Sunday night that was it. It caught up with me! Every time the weather changes for the seasons I get bronchitis. I thankfully am on the upswing I think. Today I am going to try and get pics of one area I have managed to get completed so stay tuned.
I can not believe this will be our third Christmas at the new house. How does that even seem possible!?

Breakfast Nook Plans
I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving! Did anyone do any Black Friday shopping? What did you get? I ordered Christmas pjs online. That was about the extent of it. I spent my time instead finishing the faux cathedral window which I ended up being one piece short so we need to run to Home Depot now that it has hopefully quieted down from the shopping mania. I also have been working on more holiday decorating and have started the plans for our next project.

French Country Farmhouse Christmas Mantel From Years Past
I know a lot of us are gearing up to deck the halls so I decided that I would revisit some of my older holiday decor in the upcoming week. I know that not every one has been around from years past and would not necessarily think to go back 4-5 years to look for Christmas decorating inspiration. Today I am sharing one of my utmost favorite mantels from the 2014 holiday season. Included are also links to other fabulous blogs with inspiration all their own.
For our mantel I decided to carry on my French Farmhouse style but added some vintage touches as well. |
I used a similar frame to last years for the mantel focal point. |

Begining of Holiday Decorating- Clearance Christmas Trees
Over the past week Mr. Front Porch has been out of the country. While he was away I guess you could say this mouse played. LOL. I have been very busy with multiple projects that all had to be complete for holiday decorating. The first was to bring out the trees. Right after Christmas last year I took advantage of online clearance deals and ordered two new trees.

Adding Character to French Farmhouse Cottage Master Bedroom Windows
I have been slowly working on our master bedroom. I haven't shared much of it other than last fall when I painted the space and then again when we found a vintage mantel that I made over. I tacked the new curtains up to see how they would look till I found rods and it has staid that way till recently. I found something I knew would really add character to our master bedroom.

French Farmhouse Sconces
I have a morning routine when I wake up and it always involves hopping on the computer for a few minutes. I head over to the news then to the weather and then I check out my favorite sites that I shop from to see if they have any good deals I am interested in. Then after that I head over to check out the local real estate site because I like to stay in the know on what the market is doing.

Creating Privacy for Front Door Windows
We love our craftsman style front door with sidelights. What we didn't like is that anyone who came to the door could see all the way into our living room. There was no privacy what so ever! I considered several possibilities to tackle the issue. One was to add curtains but our foyer is too small for that. Second was to apply a film which is essentially a big sticker to all the windows. I looked at them but never found one I really loved and I didn't want to have to worry about cleaning off all the sticky mess if I ever decided to peel it off.

Ikea Table Makeover
Our patio makeover is slowly coming along. As with a lot of my makeovers they always involve smaller makeovers. The first was the round curbside dining table.

Happy Dancing In Hobby Lobby
I do not go out shopping very often. I tend to be a homebody for the most part which is always a good thing for the wallet. When I do shop I LOVE getting good deals. I ran to Hobby Lobby this week looking for a few things in particular and was disappointed that they didn't have more on their weekly special. That disappointment quickly turned in to excitement. Hobby Lobby is having a HUGE end of season sale and all spring and summer is 80% off right now!

Sunday Open Houses-Southern Style
Sunday Mr. Front Porch and I ran a few errands. While out and about we decided to drive thru a neighborhood that we looked into back when we were house hunting. It was in the very early stages then like kicking dirt around stages and no houses. We have been thru it one other time since then but it has been awhile. It has grown tremendously and is a gorgeous community with major southern charm!

Back Porch Makeover In Progress
Do you have that one space in your home that no matter what you do you just can not seem to pull it together and make it work? For me it is our back porch. When we were building we choose to upgrade to a 550 sq ft outdoor living area since we always spent time outback at our old house. No, we do not have a pool here...yet (insert wishful thinking)... like we did at the last house but even before the pool we spent a lot of time out there. I had high hopes for the same here and well that just has not happened which is a shame because it is a great space.

4th of July Patriotic Front Porch
Happy July everyone! We are already half way thru the year which is unbelievable to me. I will admit that I have had fall decor on my mind and even should I admit it...Christmas. No worries. I have not purchased anything for either yet. LOL.
To celebrate July here are some simple patriotic touches I made to our front porch and garage. |

Porch Ceiling Makeover-Haint Blue Porch Ceiling
A few weekends back we went to the store to pick out a new ceiling fan for Mr. Front Porch's office. His ceiling fan was broken and since his office was getting a makeover it was time to replace it. While we were picking out a new fan for the office we also picked up two fans for the front porch. That started our porch ceiling makeover.

Office Makeover for Mr. Front Porch
In the year and half that we have lived in our new home we have gradually been making over areas of it. Most recently we completed the master bathroom. If you missed that reveal you can see it HERE. I promised Mr. Front Porch that once we were completed with that room we would start on his office. His home office at the last house was one of the first projects I tackled. You can see it HERE. Most of the pieces we left with the house or sold.

French Country Farmhouse Fireplace Vignette
Over the weekend I worked some more on the master bathroom. We installed the cabinet hardware and I replaced the linen closet door knobs. I will be sharing the changes in my next post.
Today I took a break from the bathroom makeover and I updated our fireplace mantel. The last time I swapped things around was back in January. It was time for a change. |

New Home Lighting Options
A friend from my old hood recently purchased a new home. It is a gorgeous home that the builder used as their model. The current lighting though beautiful was too frufru for them and she was looking for lighting that would make their new house feel like them, feel like their home and not a model home. I was more than happy to help out.
Here are a few of the options I came up with. Keep in mind the furnishings you see are the model home furnishings.

Foyer Makeover Reveal
Remember back in March when we decided to makeover our foyer with a DIY shiplap project? It only took a few days start to finish but I have been playing around with styling it. It still is not quite the way I want it but there is always another post I can do.
