Making A Faux Cathedral Window

Faux Cathedral Arch Window- French Country-Farmhouse-Cottage-DIY-From My Front Porch To Yours

A few months back I found these chippy cathedral decorative pieces. As soon as I saw them I knew they would be perfect for a project that I had been wanting to tackle.

We have this opening from our breakfast nook/back door area into our living room. If I had thought about it I probably would have asked if it had been possible to not even have this wall/partition between the two spaces but hind sight is 20/20 though I think it may be low bearing support so kinda important. The opening in the wall is necessary to allow more light to f low into the living room. I had been on the look out for an old window to fit here to no avail. When I found those cathedral pieces I knew I had found my "window".

This was a pretty straight forward project. Took me around 4 hours. Mind you I have never built a "window" before so for someone who already has mad skills it probably would take an hour. LOL.

I attached the two cathedral pieces together with the nail gun. I needed both sides to look the same hence why I needed two. I then started building the frame around them and inserted it into the space. Once there I started building the top transom "window" to fill in the space above the cathedral pieces.

Here is where I am at today. I need to caulk, prime and paint. I then also need to paint the wall itself. It is still the original color. I think once everything is painted out it is going took amazing!

I just love being able to add character to our home.
