Laundry Room Makeover Part 2 Farmhouse Cottage Style

I started making over our laundry room back in August but never got around to sharing on here so yesterday I posted Part 1 of our laundry room makeover. Today I am going to pick up where I left off. There were so many pictures that I felt best to just share them in several different posts.

After I finished putting up the Peel & Stick Wallpaper...which actually is not wallpaper  but I will get to that in another post...I could not resist putting up my Wash & Dry Sign and a few other accessories just to see how it would all come together. I loved the cathedral window but ended up taking the metal scrollwork out because I felt it was too busy for the space. I also ended up not putting the sign there. Instead I added a faux beam wood topper to the window which you will see in another picture later on.

Laundry Room Makeover Part 1 Farmhouse Cottage Style

I noticed that my post Farmhouse Laundry Room Mini Makeover from way back in 2017 has been popular here of late.

At the time I was not ready to do a full makeover so all I did was change out the paint color of the space.

As you can see paint makes such a huge difference just by itself!

Farmhouse Cottage Style Fall Front Porch

Welcome to our fall porch for 2020! I have to say it was kinda tricky trying to get some decent pictures to share. Every time I tried the sun was shining in the wrong place. I always seemed to miss the optimal time.

This year I created our fall porch in stages. Adding something new over the last few weeks.

The sunflower wreaths are from Home Depot this year and were only $15! You can't make them for that price so in our cart they hopped. The architectural pieces are from Ragon House. I put up grapevine garland around the windows with fairy lights added every where. I purchase my grapevine garland from Hobby Lobby with a coupon. It is a huge pain to put up but in the end well worth it!

A DIY Fall Tree Tutorial

Have you seen those gorgeous fall trees online from various companies? They have been around for years. I have always admired them but have never wanted to pay the price for one. Just one tree can cost anywhere from $70-$175 depending on where you purchase it from.

This year I decided to make my own fall tree for a fraction of the cost! I actually made three trees for less than $85!

First you will need to purchase a bundle of birch sticks or whatever they are called. I found them at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas decor under the bows. They come in a bundle of 3. I paid $14 for the bundle because they were half off at the time. You need to wait for the sales because that is what makes the trees so affordable!

Touches of Fall Cottage Farmhouse Style

Has it begun to cool down where you are? We were hoping for cooler weather last week but it never arrived. Alas it looks as if our weather will be taking a dip this upcoming week though. I am ready for the cooler fall temps to come and play.
These past few weeks I have been busy adding touches of fall to our home. Today I am sharing the little open shelving area in our breakfast nook.

Front Yard DIY Garden Landscape Project

I found the most beautiful hanging baskets when shopping for groceries back in April. I could not pass them up. There were exactly five and thus started a project that I had been wanting to work on forever.

We have a detached garage. The garage technically is in our backyard but the fence line starts at the garage on that side of our thus making for a long driveway. In turn it makes for an expansive fence line between our neighbors and us. I would love to have a bed put in going down the length of the fence but unfortunately that is not possible due to the utility lines that lie on our side of the fence.

Backyard Garden Makeover

Backyard Garden Makeover-From My Front Porch To Yours

It was always our intention to connect the individual flower beds to make them larger. With all the time on my hands and the beautiful weather we had in the spring I got busy transforming this small area.

DIY Christmas Tree Stand

I am always asked how I get our Christmas trees to stand up in alternative containers. Ever since we stopped buying real trees and swapped over to faux I have come up with creative stands. Each one was created a bit differently. Some were successful and well lets say one year Mr. Front Porch and I watched in horror while the tree started to topple over. It was a good thing we were there and I was able to catch it. After that year our skills have advanced and we have never had an issue again. So if you try your hand at creating an alternative stand just be sure that it is sturdy enough to hold the tree up to prevent any accidents! Probably best not to try if you have small children or pets unless you are 100% sure your stand is sturdy!

Hydrangea Flower Arrangements

Today has been a busy day! I got the car washed and then spent two hours perusing WalMart. I was looking for some of their Vintage Inspired Halloween decor they have this year. Our store only has gotten bits and pieces of it in so it is a hit or miss. I am wanting to start decorating a little for Halloween every year so I figured I would see what I could find for next year. I purchased some cute little pumpkin treat buckets that were just 75 cents each. They are a mini version of the large one kids take out Trick or Treating.
After I dug thru the Halloween I spent awhile in the Christmas isles. My store finally has it all out so I hemmed and hawed over what exactly I was needing this year. I am famous for putting a bunch of stuff in my cart and then putting half of it back if not all of it. My boys just love it when I do that. LOL.
Walmart also included grocery shopping, then it was home to take pics of the fall breakfast nook and dining room.  I am still in the process of editing those pics so I thought that I would share a project I worked on a few months back for my neighbor friend.

My friend asked me if I knew how to make flower arrangements and I told her I have made a few small ones over the years so I could give it a try on larger ones if she wanted. Let me tell you I had so much fun designing  arrangements for her! She wanted something elegant but with a farmhouse feel. She wanted an arrangement for her kitchen island which is where this one went.

Fall Hydrangea Wreaths

Fall- Hydrangea- Stems-Fall-Decor-From My Front Porch To Yours
I found these beautiful fall hydrangea stems at Michaels last month. They were having a huge sale so with the stems being Buy One Get One they jumped in my cart along with a few other items for our fall porch.

September Musings

The month of September has flown by! Minus an interruption from Tropical Storm Imelda we are back into the groove of school. Temps are finally starting to cool down. Thank you Lord! Instead of 100s we are in the low 90s. At the beginning of the month I made a resolution to get back into sharing here on the blog. I had been away for awhile except for a post every once in awhile. Well I held fast to my resolution and this month there were 10 new blog posts y'all! I think that is a pretty good start.  I thank everyone who has stuck around. It makes my heart happy to still see familiar faces visiting!
At the end of every month I am going to do a recap post so all the month's posts will be easily accessed from one place. This month held posts from seasonal decor to whole room makeovers! Be sure to scroll down to make sure you didn't miss a thing!

Spring Carrot Tulip Wreath Tutorial

This past weekend I was working on the spring porch and needed two wreaths for the windows. I decided that I was going to finally try my hand at creating a carrot tulip wreath. These have been around for a few years and I have never been able to luck up on enough tulips until now.

There are many versions and tutorials out there of the carrot tulip wreath. After browsing them all I came up with my own version of how I wanted to construct the wreaths. I suggest that you browse them all as well and decide what way you think would be best for you. Total time to create one wreath for me was between 2.5 hours to 3 hours.

Breakfast Nook Plans

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving! Did anyone do any Black Friday shopping? What did you get? I ordered Christmas pjs online. That was about the extent of it. I spent my time instead finishing the faux cathedral window which I ended up being one piece short so we need to run to Home Depot now that it has hopefully quieted down from the shopping mania. I also have been working on more holiday decorating and have started the plans for our next project.
