Kitchen Reno Part 2

We started demo last Tuesday I think it was or maybe Monday. I have lost track. It has been a long week. Anyways, don't ya just love my new mani!?;)
We completed the desk area first and used a smaller travertine tile here. After we had it all up I decided that the smaller would be too busy everywhere in the kitchen so we headed back to the tile store to return the smaller and to buy the larger ones.
The larger tiles went up much faster and they still tie into the desk area because they are the same color story. We had a few tiles that kept wanting pop off the wall for some reason so I just tapped them up till they dried. Worked like a charm.
This is The Hubster just before we started on the last area to be tiled. He looks so thrilled does't he!;) He was a really good sport and he loves the end result.
11:30 Saturday night putting up the last tile. Probably one of the worst pics ever but hey just keeping it real after three non stop days of working.
We both are in love with how it all turned out! Sunday I took the day off but now I am now busy sealing and grouting everything.
The design we came up with for the cooktop. The Hubster says the glass tiles look khaki. I say they look green. He prefers khaki so we will just go with that!;)
I am still torn on paint color for the walls even though I already purchased two gallons. I am also still torn on the cabinet color. I am pretty sure it will be Old White though. The Papa is trying his hardest to get me not to paint the cabinets. I just "have" to though to achieve my vision of a brighter kitchen and trust me the cabinets may look nice from afar but they are dinged and scratched in some places and hazy for some reason in others.
Our plans do not stop at tiling and painting! We had to take our monster of a micro down from above the stove because the builder had tiled behind it. Once it came down The Hubster kept eyeing it and I knew exactly what he was thinking. The micro was not to go back up! It was something I have been dreaming to do for awhile now so it thrilled me to pieces that he saw the vision too.

Now we are in the process of designing a custom hood.

A lot of my inspiration pics have hoods with display shelves so I knew I had to have one. I can not wait to actually start building it!
I wanted to thank everybody for all your kind comments thus far on our reno!! I really appreciate them all and apologize that I just have not had time to respond to them all. I have read each and every one though and y'all warm my heart!:)
See ya back here tomorrow for the most viewed links from last weeks Treasure Hunt Thursday! I will also share a treasure I found over the weekend for the kitchen! I just love it when things come together!
....just because I have not shared a cute puppy pic lately! Our Savannah has ben a doll thru this entire process though she thought she could help me pic a paint color and ended up with paint on her ear. The Hubster laughed and said yep, she is our dog!;)

$10 Master Bedroom Make Over

This is what Littliest and I worked on today. Trust me when I say moving a king size bed by yourself with instruction from a 5 yr old is no easy feat but I got it done!:) Also let me say that you need to ALWAYS check the reconstruction of your furniture after the movers put it back together. One foot of the bed was not even screwed on!!

If you remember back in November I was soo excited because I had finally found the color I wanted for our bedroom. The green was the IT color!

Well we were at Lowes a few weekends ago and what did my wondering eyes spy? There was not one but TWO gallons of this Oops paint at just $5 a gallon. (Yes, mom I know YAWN.) I bought it and thought maybe master bedroom but again I was still digging the green. Then I got to thinking that with the green I would be pretty much limited on decor and bedding. I googled French Country pics and what I was finding was that most of the rooms were very neutral and added color with linens and other decor to achieve the French Country look. So I decided to give it a try.

View into master bedroom before we moved in.

View back in November. SCARY I know!

The view today! I know I know it is a very subtle change but I promise you it made a world of difference!
Here is a pic I took this evening after it got dark. You can kinda see the warming effect it has in the room.
Pic taken before we moved in.

Another pic from back in November. Trust me I still love the green but I just could not pass up $5 a gallon paint.

Pic taken this afternoon. Pardon the closed bathroom doors. I was in the process of sorting laundry and thought I would spare y'all. As you can see I still have two places I need to finish up. I was not brave enough to climb the 8 ft ladder without The Hubster here to watch me fall! :) That and I was not able to move the long dresser and t.v. by myself and well I did not want a repeat of what happened to my sewing room cabinet! Thankfully The Papa was able to put that leg back on. Thanx again Papa!

Here is my lil' corner of the world. I am thinking of finding a table of sorts with room to put baskets underneath to store my extra pillows and blanket and to cover up the outlet there.

Here is The Hubster's corner and I am seriously thinking we need larger lamps but then I was thinking maybe just new shades. What cha think?? The iron pieces went over our bed at the last house but I may hang them here at a diagonal.

If I use the iron pieces by the side tables than I am left with what to do over the bed. Hmmm, what to do? I am very excited to finally be able to accessorize our bedroom! I was giddy when I hung the mirror on the wall today!:)
Off to pin our sheets back up so we can go to sleep tonight and fold some clothes. Not very exciting for a Friday night but I wouldn't change it for anything! Okay, that was a lie. I would love to have a folding fairy and I can't wait till we have blinds and real window treatments but I think ya got what I ment!;)
Have a good one!
