Today I am sharing with y'all a project that I had been dreaming of since we were building. I had all my ideas sketched out on a piece of paper to make our breakfast nook into something warm and inviting. Last October started my collection of items to make my visions come to life. I didn't actually start the make over though till February. It took me approximately 2 months before it was completely finished.
Here is what the space looked like before. It was functional and homey being that I used several beloved pieces like the pie safe and toile curtains. I was wanting to make it even more suitable for our family as well as more inviting/cozy. |
This is where I use to do all my blogging work. Funny really because at our last house I HATED having a built in desk area in our kitchen and here at the new house what did I do but make a desk area. LOL. I liked being out with everyone even if I had work to do but it ended up being a catch all and it needed to go. |
Here is the space today! I had several boxes of leftover of peel & stick wood that we had used in the office so I used it to create wainscoting on the window wall after I painted the walls. After install I painted it white. The walls went from a beige to a gray. |
For above the new farmhouse style cabinetry that I purchased I made some cottage style open shelving for storing dinnerware and drinkware. I also added skinnylap to the side of the built in cabinetry. Something I will be doing to rest of our kitchen cabinets once I get around to it. Insert Mr. Front Porch rolling his eyes. |
I love having the drinkware and dinnerware right by the fridge and table. We use them daily. |
The new cabinets are perfect for displaying/storing all my beloved dinnerware and table linens. I so desperately needed the storage.
So that is Part 1 of the reveal. There were too many pictures for just one post so be sure to click on over for Part 2! |
