Mirror mirror on the....

A few weeks back I showed y'all this beautiful mirror I got off the local yard sale site. Though lovely in its original state thoughts kept running thru my mind on what it could become.

In came my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint sample pots I had left from back in the fall. Sorry gals but I hear these are hard to find now.
I started off with Old White as the base coat and then added Old Ochre. I decided it needed some aging so I used some antiquing medium I purchased at HobLob. Well it was too dark so I had to go back and add Old White again.
About four long hours later this is the final finish!

I took it a bit further and used a sanding block and sanded in spots so that the original gold would show thru. Now that it was done I pondered where I was going to put it. My original idea was to hang it over our long mirror in the master bath but this sucker is HEAVY so I made other plans.

I had been contimplating how to lighten the dining room up. It just felt really dark to me so last night around 11 pm instead of going to bed like a normal person I transformed the buffet.

Yes, much lighter and brighter now! Let me tell ya it was no easy feet hanging that mirror on my own but I just had to get  it done right then.  I get that honest from my mama!;) I changed out the lamp shade on the one lamp. They were just too matchy before. I am also pondering changing out our chandy if I ever find one for the right price. Shhh, don't tell The Hubster!;)

I brought out my new dishes. I purchased the white ones almost two years ago and the green ones about a month ago. I just had not gotten them out yet with us redoing the flooring which yes is still in progess.

I love the faint design on the white plates and the more dominate on the green. A perfect combination I think.

I brought these fellas in from the kitchen. I purchased them 10 years ago from Target along with the matching cookie jar. I just love um to pieces and am thankful that nothing has happened to them in the  last three moves since then.

Here is my antique rooster lamp and all his chippy goodness! I know I shared him last year when I purchased him but I thought he was worth another look.
I still need to add a few more touches to the buffet like finding some antique silverware and making a runner but all in all I think it came out nicely.

Now to decide what to do with my vacation treasures! The only shop I got to visit was Old Time Pottery and that place is HUGE and reminds me of Garden Ridge that we have around here but with a bit nicer items. There were tables and tables of fab down the center of the store. The Nana found the cream floral fabric and another one that I should have bought as well but such is life. At the last one I found the beautiful blue Waverly fabric. I am thinking curtains for the landing or maybe if I am brave enough a slip cover for in the living room. Oh how I wish I were lucky enough to have a neighbor like Sonya over at Beyond The Screen Door

  6. The mirror turned out fabulous, Pamela! When I was using the chalk paint this weekend, I was wishing they had sample pots. I'd like to try some of the other colors on the color chart they sent along, but not buy a whole quart. The buffet looks great ~ I love your rooster lamp. Love the dishes, too. Your green ones remind me of the new white ones I just got from Walmart with the detail and curves.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that mirror! That is one of my "out to find" items. Wish I could luck up on one at a garage sale. BTW, I love that blue floral as well. I slipcovered a parsons chair for my sewing room out of that same fabric. It's one of my favorites.
