Dining Room Chair Makeover French Country Farmhouse Style

I have been slowly transforming our new home. I guess we can still call it new? It will be two years come the end of October since we moved in. I still do not have one room completely done. I have always been one that lets each space evolve over time.

Our dining room is one of those rooms that I have done a lot to but it still doesn't say completed to me yet.

When I lucked up on these Fiddleback curbside chairs back in the spring I knew I wanted them for the dining room.

I also knew the chairs were going to be painted to match our dining room hutch.

The trick was to try and remember just how I came up with the finish. It has been over 6 years since I made the hutch over.

I tried to remember all the colors that I used on the hutch and I got to work.

It took several layers to achieve the look.

I like how the chairs came out.

Though not an exact match I think they came out pretty darn close! I do not think that anybody would notice that they d0 not perfectly match. Besides I like things that are not perfect looking. Lord knows I am not perfect!:)

I found some cute blue seat cushions at HomeGoods that I think will be perfect for the dining room.
I will share the chairs in their new home soon.

I am finishing up with Fall in the dining room.

  1. I love your dining room and your hutch and chairs. It is funny that you say you have lived there for 2 years and do not have a single room complete! I have lived here for over 15 years and do not have things completed! As a matter of fact, I don't think I have ever had a home or garden completely the way I wanted it. By the time you complete something, it is time for another change, haha. Melinda

  2. Well done on the chairs! I this owe just know it when we find what we think will work. And your dining room is sim ply gorgeous!

I keep a file on my laptop with all the names and numbers of my paints, for each room. That way if I need to take down pictures or shelves, I can putty the holes and go over it with a small can of the same color paint.

    1. That is a good idea with the paint Jane. I remembered what colors once I thought about it but I didn't want to spend the $$ on buyng even more chalk paint so I winged it. Hope you are enjoying your weekend my friend!

  6. Pamela,
Is any room ever complete anywhere? As time goes by, things break, needs change, paint gets dingy, etc... Decorating and home maintenance are just a progression from one project to the next.... at least, at my house. :)

    1. I doubt it Judith. LOL. I would like to think maybe one day there may be. I have so many ideas for this house that it will probably taken years before we implement all of them. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

  7. Love your chairs and the new color you chose! I don't think any of us will ever feel our homes will be "done". I'm alreay on the second pass for several things in my home and have some areas that still need a first pass! lol Keep up the good work!
