Adding Character to French Farmhouse Cottage Master Bedroom Windows

I have been slowly working on our master bedroom. I haven't shared much of it other than last fall when I painted the space and then again when we found a vintage mantel that I made over. I tacked the new curtains up to see how they would look till I found rods and it has staid that way till recently. I found something I knew would really add character to our master bedroom.

These faux window pieces are meant for hanging on the wall.

Turns out the faux window pieces are the perfect fit for inside our bedroom windows!

Since I was going to be hanging them in the windows I needed to address the ugly side of things because the faux window inserts will be seen from inside and outside our home.

I took the picture hanging hardware off and then I got to work painting the back of the faux windows.

Much better looking now!

Next I determined what I needed to actually hang them in our windows. Turns out the chain was not needed. I only used small eyelets and then those small screw in white hooks you can buy that you hang plants or what not from.

I measured and marked off exactly where I wanted the eyelets to go.

I thought I was going to need the drill but they went in very easily. I installed the eyelets on each panel and then two hooks per window.

The faux windows now look as if they were made just for this spot! Next up we hung the new curtain rods.

After hanging the new curtain rods I needed to address the fact that the curtains are too short and the repainting of the bottom where I was trying to determine if I wanted to repaint the entire room. That part is still up for debate but I did come up with a fix for the too short curtains. I will be sharing that fix soon.

  3. Wow! Those window frames are so amazing...they look like the real thing especially the way you have them hung. They must not be very heavy. They look great in your windows...very clever idea. I am just curious where you found them, if you don't mind me asking.

    1. No they are not very heavy at all. The wood is a soft wood so that helps. I found them at Kirklands on sale but shh don't tell anybody!;)
