You want me to let you in on a secret? Up until this past week I still had some of our Christmas decorations out in the kitchen. I mean really, can you even imagine?!;) Thankfully I went out running errands and saw all the Spring decor being put out and I was inspired to change things up.
I receive many emails asking me about our kitchen from where did we get our tile to what color our cabinets are. We made over our kitchen almost two years ago and are still in love with it to this day though I am thinking of changing a few things. |
The glass knobs are from Hobby Lobby. |
I love these little white dessert plates. Can you believe they came from the 99 cent store!? |
Our cabinets are painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Ochre. Our walls are Autumn Haze by Glidden. The walls have a slight yellow tint to them and I am wanting something a tad different now. I may go with SW Maison Blanche like our dining room. Do you think I should paint the bottom cabinets or leave them as is? I can not decide. If I paint them should they be the same as the top or should I do a different color like Chateau Grey or Versallies both of which are a green. Mr. Front Porch just shakes his head when I mention any of it!;) Sharing at these fabulous blogs: Between Naps on The Porch Savvy Southern Style |
So nice to see some spring decor! We have had a ton of snow this winter so I am SO ready for spring! I love your cabinets the way they are but I am sure you will make them gorgeous whatever you decide!
ReplyDeleteShelley
Your kitchen is so pretty! The paint is just perfect and the backsplash is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI think the paint on top and stain on bottom is perfect for getting the frenchy look but not over doing it....especially since you said you might want to move one of these days. Our cabinets are painted and glazed and I will say the bottom cabinets seem to suffer more wear than when we had stained cabinets at our last house.
Aren't you loving this springy weather we are getting? Just realized yesterday that my jasmine is about to bloom for the first time. Now if this freeze we are getting in Dallas doesn't clobber it... :)
I love you kitchen. However, I'm a person who ADORES change. Your choice is such a personal one. A woman's kitchen is her "woman cave!" What our cave looks like is up to each individual.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I would paint the bottoms a darker color, simply because to me the stain to paint ratio looks a tad off. But that is my taste.
I'm completely confident in your decor abilities, as I love everything you share from your home. Most of the time it's the actual decision process that's the hardest part. But more to the point, it sounds like YOU are in need of a little change up in your cave.
Look forward to seeing what you decide, Hope
Hi Pamela,
ReplyDeleteI love the different color cabinets in your kitchen. So much so that I am thinking of changing ours up...maybe make my island white.?.? Adore your farmhouse style.
Lori
Your kitchen has always been one of my faves on Blogland Pamela. I adore the two tone look... but then a darker paint would be just as beautiful. I know I'll still luv Ti no matter what you decide :)
ReplyDeleteHappy today!
Hugs, Gee
I love your cabinets as they are. In fact it is exactly what I am thinking for my kitchen redo. I have all white now and quite honestly the bottom cabinets stay so dirty as hubby is not the most careful when mixing coffee, koolaid, or cooking so the bottoms always look dirty. I love the stained on bottom and off white/cream on top. Wanna come do my kitchen? :D
ReplyDeleteSince we are whispering, I'll let you know I still have some lighted jack-o-lanterns up above the cabinets in the kitchen. I bet that makes you feel better about your Christmas décor. Your painted cabinets are perfect. I love painted wood, but would leave the bottom ones as is...I'm even shocked I said this! The reason is my kitchen cabinets are painted in a similar color and aged too. The bottom cabinets tend to get splashed and drips from spills and I often wish they were wood so it wouldn't show so much and were easier to clean without worrying about ruining them.
ReplyDeleteI love your cabinets as they are as well....
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela,
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh painting the bottom cabinets will look awesome. Anyway you go with the same color as the uppers or bringing the green in they will look so gorgeous. You go girl!!! I just a post on my faux brick wall after your lovely inspiration on yours. Love the spring look to your pretty kitchen.
Kris
Oh Pamela, your kitchen is beautiful! I love the different cabinet colors but whatever you do will look amazing! Love your spring touches!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
Your kitchen is so pretty, Pamela! I love it just as it is. Are you using those other colors anywhere else in the kitchen? I like the idea of a contrast with different colors, but then again, I like the color on the upper and think that would look just fine on the bottom cabinets, too. I'm sure whatever you decide will be the right decision. You always do such a great job on your projects.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen and love the 2 tones on the cabinets. That being said, whatever you do will be gorgeous, I know.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I agree with Kris! I think you should paint the bottom cabinets and I love the idea of going with a sage green soft color! Trust me ! I have great decor taste and a country farmhouse cottage kitchen and that would look amazing in there! The bottom cabinets are too dark! Love the white roosters! Great job!blessings,Cindy
ReplyDeleteI think you've done lots to your kitchen and your cabinets are beautiful. In new houses of the early 80's it was in style to have the cabinets all match but noT now!! Do what your
ReplyDeleteHeart leads you to. Best to you in choices. I'd love to see them ASCP ed. And a different color sounds fun. I'd not be so adventurous soni could see it and maybe get influenced by your ambition💕😊
Pamela your kitchen is darling and changing things around really make for a fresh look. Beautiful! JO
ReplyDeleteI still have the "winter mantle" up, which seemed lazy until we had a full week off of school for weather. I will take it down this week, though, because I don't want to be teaching until the fourth of July!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is beautiful ! Love the wreath and all the chickens !
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous, I love it just as it is. I wouldn't paint the bottom cabinets, I so think they have way more character like this.
ReplyDeleteHow inspiring! Your kitchen is perfectly lovely. I love the colors you've chosen...subtle, calming, and you can change accessories for pops of color. Love the moss and egg in your silver sugar boat with the prayer. Awesome! Pamela, your blog is as beautiful as your kitchen. Blessings~

I love the cabinets, Pamela. We're redoing our kitchen, and yours is so inspiring! :)
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous! I love that pistachio mixer! I've been hoping for a kitchen aid for a long while now. It's great to see the actual color in a kitchen. Did it come with that bowl or a separate buy?
ReplyDeleteBobbi Jo I got the white bowl from a Rebate they were at the time. Keep your eye out for a mixer on Kohls. That is where I bought it from. It was on sale and I had a coupon then the rebate for the bowl. It was a really good deal!
DeleteI adore your kitchen and can't believe it's two years already. Painting the bottom Chateau gray would be gorgeous. Alot of work but you seem to handle it with no problem
ReplyDeleteCindy
I know Cindy! 2 years already. It just flew by.
DeleteYour kitchen is beautiful!! I like the idea of painting the bottom cabinets Chateau Gray. Where did you find your ornate frame for your cow picture? I really like the idea of a small piece of artwork to hang. Thank you for sharing your photos.
ReplyDeleteI have loved the way your kitchen has evolved...great Spring decor and I can totally relate to the Christmas decorations situation...Love the cabinets; however, I feel that you should do what you like...knowing you, your home is always evolving and with each change there is always a beautiful result!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks sooo pretty! Love your new Spring decor. I think whatever you do in your kitchen, it will be beautiful. You have great taste and style.
ReplyDeleteSince you asked . . . I'd say PAINT!!! Not sure if you should match your top cabinets (which are gorgeous!) or go with black. Your home is lovely! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks great! I always love it when people hang a small painting in the kitchen - it is so elegant. Using a 3M hook was a smart idea. Also, the travertine tile is classic. It's just me, but I wouldn't change a thing!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Michelle from simplysantabarbara.blogspot.com
Oh Pamela, I think your kitchen is so lovely and welcoming. I will have to try the 3M hook thingy ...
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is so gorgeous Pamela! Too funny about the Christmas decorations. I think I've got all mine down as long as you don't count the wreath in the guest room.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen Pamela! I have been thinking about changing our back splash and I noticed that we have the same granite, I have been considering white subway tile, but I think the one you chose looks so pretty with the granite. I really like how it adds a lot of warmth to your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteLove your kitchen! What is the name of the pattern of your granite?
ReplyDeleteI think you should paint the bottom cabinets. Your kitchen looks great, though. A very dramatic change--so much prettier and very updated. Paint your bottom cabinets, too, that will complete the update.
ReplyDeleteThank you KK. It was a very dramatic change and brightened our kitchen up so much. We have since sold our home and our kitchen was a top selling point. The buyer just loved it!
