Snickerdoodle Dandy

The boys and I were in a cookie mood when shopping for groceries. We spied  the new Snickerdoodle mix by Pilsbury. I LOVE Snickerdoodles and the only place who does them right is The Great American Cookie Company and honestly we rarely if ever get a treat from there. Just too dang expensive. So when I saw this I figured why not give it a shot.
They are a little messy when mixing um together but oh so worth it in the end!! Just as good if not better than any I have ever had before! Snickerdoodle anyone!?;)
One last thing before I go. I am currently redoing our  guest suite because well it is my bad addiction!:) I just wanted to throw this out there in hopes of NOT turning to Ebay.  I want to find a loving home for the set I already have. It is from the Country Living Line. I have the queen/full quilt and the two pillow shams. If interested just let me know. I can send more pics.
I also have two of the matching Country Living Shower Curtains.

And I have this red floral queen/full Ralph Lauren bedskirt. Everything is in excellent condition! The guest suite only gets used maybe 4-5 times a year if that. Again if interested just let me know. I will offer a discount if purchased altogether. Must have a Paypal account.

Hope your Friday evening is going well!

It's a Shutter Thing

Be sure to stop by my Appreciation Party! You have till August 1st to submit your question for Annie Sloan!
This little set of shutters has made its rounds thru out our home. Mostly hanging out in the dining room but more recently hanging in the foyer. Since I decided to change that out they ended up here outside our master bedroom. It is just a little blah space not really large enough for anything but these. I really liked how they looked here but this little hallway is pretty dark most times of the day.

Out came the chalk paint.

I used the dry brush method. Duck Egg was the main color and then I used Old White on the centers.

Next came the waxing and I  must say that the waxing was not all that bad this time around! Since the shutters are small I was able to go ahead and rub clear wax over the entire piece instead of in sections. This made it go by much more quickly! I am also sure that since I was working on this project inside the absence of the 100 degree heat was a major plus as well! The wax did not dry as quickly which made it much more easy to work with. Left panel no wax. Right panel with wax.

I really like how the finish turned out but I am debating on wether or not to brush some Duck Egg on the spindles.

Urgh! Let me try and finish this once again. Every time I hit add caption to the last picture it deletes it!:(
So here are the shutters all finished. I am not sure they flow as nicely anymore but I will live with them for a lil' while. They can always be painted back!:)

Treasure Hunt Thursday #16!!

Welcome to Treasure Hunt Thursday! As many of you know Rhonda formerly of Blue Creek Home and now My Blue Creek Home had some technical difficulties with her blog. She is still in the midst of trying to get everything ironed out so I was honored when she asked me if I wanted to take care of her Treasure Hunt Thursday party! Thank you so much Rhonda and I hope to make you proud! For now I am going to continue to use Rhonda's Party Button so that everybody will recognize that it is still the same party just at a different house!:) If you have this button on your sidebar and get a chance please just change the URL over to my place. I would so much appreciate it!

So let's get this party started ladies!

I found this treasure at HomeGoods on Monday. It along with another one was just tossed on top of a shelf. I saw it and wondered what it was. Needless to say I bought both of them since they were only $7.99! Thing is when I got them home they are kinda short so now I am trying to decide what to do with them.

I purchased this off of the local yard sale site. I actually have two but the other one is out in the garage. They are from some body's front door and well the other one is cracked in two places. I did not mind though! For $10 I figured I could take the broken pieces out of the other one.

This lamp is another HomeGoods find from this week. I just love all the detailing in the base!
So what did y'all find this past week!? I can't wait to see!

As with all parties there are the normal rules. You must link back to From My Front Porch To Yours. Just common courtsey. Only link up to your Treasure Hunt Thursday post and NOT your blog homepage. Please no advertising. Also be sure to visit at least the link before you and after you to just say Hi! It makes partying all the more fun!:)

I am sorry but I have had ENOUGH!

I am done! I am over summer! I am so wishing these 100 degree temps would so kindly go away.

I am dreaming of seeing these and feeling the cool crisp air and the smell of back yard fire pits. Yummy! Oh and drinking some French Vanilla Cafe!! Yes truly yumminess.

Of course all of our fave shops are not helping deter my fall fever. Thanx for nothing HobLob!:)

I love this old wagon and the word pumpkins are just fantastic and would be super easy to do!
Source Unknown.

I can never get enough of pumpkin topiaries.
Source unknown.

And even though I know this pic has been around blogland for like ever I still love it! I think it is from Better Homes & Garden but I may be wrong. I pulled it from my inspiration file like all the others.

Now this door swag is truly unique and I just may have to borrow this idea! Again I wish I knew who to credit!:( It really is fabulous.

Can you guess what these adorable little pumpkins are made of?? I know as soon as you find out you will be hunting down any spare fall fab and making some!:) Head over to Organize & Decorate Everything.

This wreath is too stinking cute as well. Head over to Crae's Creations for the tutorial!

So anybody else longing for fall yet or am I the only one!? Speaking of fever Littliest has a 103 temp. Hoping it turns out to be nothing more than just a little cold. Good excuse why the laundry is not folded yet! Ha!
Have a great one off to snuggle with Littliest!

A Little Project

This project came about last week in the wee hours of the morn when I was trying to figure out the wall in the foyer. I remembered that I had this old shutter thing out in the garage for jeez over a year now. Then I pulled the yellow frame from the guest bedroom. We purchased it at Ikea a few years back. It use to be black. The letter 'F' I used for our fall wreath for the front door. Though I did not use this for the foyer I kept thinking how much I liked it. So I got to work transforming it.

I started out with the old shutter and my Chateau Grey chalk paint which I did stop using because I really think something may be wrong with it. Still waiting to hear back on it though.

Then I used my Old White Chalk Paint on the frame and lightly brushed the shutter with it as well. Then for the frame I used my Jacobean wax and forgot that I needed to add the clear wax first so the Jacobean soaked right into the chalk paint but it ended up turning out okay in the end.

Here is the final result!

I love the white dry brushed on top of the gray.

I also love how the frame turned out though I am debating on whether or not to dry brush it with some old white as well or maybe take some Antique Gold Rub N Buff to it or just leave it alone. At first I added this display to the hallway between our kitchen and dining room but it is rather large and made me feel claustrophobic.

So it ended up here on the stair landing which then led to me starting a whole nother project which is still in progress!:)

Also do not forget to stop by my Appreciation Party! You have till August 1 to submit your questions for consideration!
