From Drab to Fab!!

Welcome, so glad you decided to stop by! I am joining in on several linky parties this week  because  I am soo excited to share with y'all my laundry room. Why my laundry room you may be wondering!? Because it is the keeper of a fabulous piece I just finished giving new life to! If ya wanna see how our laundry room looked like before you can go here. It is quite a transformation on a very little budget and with really very little effort involved.

This is my fave doorstop ever! I purchased it at HobLob in the clearance isle sometime last year. I think I paid all of $3 for it. 

These are my drying racks. The builder did not install any sort any hanging rod so I had to come up with my own. I saw this on another blog and a light bulb went off. I had to have them which again come from HobLob. 

The top of the cabinets are still being fluffed but I think I have a good start on it. My lil bird house came from Cracker Barrel back in the summer. It was suppose to have ended up outside but the tree it was going on was chopped down by the power company. 

Loving my lil' trey. I still need to make a label for the detergent though.

Here is what ya saw when you first walked in the laundry room that is after I kicked the cats to the curb. Well not really the curb! I would never do that to my furry babies. They relocated upstairs to a rarely ever used bathroom. I think all parties involved are much happier now. I was SOOOO tired of seeing the automatic pooper scooper every time I walked in here that I HATED walking in here.

This area I am still working on as well. I actually will be raising the shelf up some and placing two wrought iron hooks below it to hang extra hangers. And what is that at the bottom you may be wondering? 

Why it is this beauty that I purchased last week from the local yard sale site. I hunted for almost two months for a dresser that was the perfect size. It needed ALOT of work and even had some water damage but nothing a lil' ol paint couldn't hide!;) See those wooden knobs? I spent almost thirty minutes trying to get the one off. Needless to say I gave up and they all met the fate of a hammer which went much much quicker!

Here is what she looks like today!! I am soo thrilled to have this piece done! I actually set a record by having her done and back in the house within three days of buying her! Usually I hem and haw and debate on what I want to do with a piece but I knew exactly what I wanted to do with her which made the process go very smoothly.

At first I attempted mixing up some paint samples I already had to achieve a yellow. Well it came out more like butter and so the next day I went to SW and purchased a sample size of Midday. I used the dry brush technique and just brushed it  on lightly to give it a subtle two tone effect. After that I used an antiquing glaze that I purchased at HobLob for less than $2 with a coupon.

Even though the top shows sooo much wear and tear I decided to just sand it down and re stain it with some walnut stain. I wanted to keep some of its old charm.

I went to yes HobLob yet again in search of some knobs yesterday. I was originally thinking glass vintage looking knobs but some lady form out of town was literally grabbing up almost every knob she could put her hands on because one they were half off and two she did not have a HobLob. Part of me was soooo irritated at her cause every one I wanted she grabbed but then the other side of me completely understood and would have being the same thing! It all ended well because I am just loving the knobs I did come home with!

I decided on the bottom to do a contrasting knob. They are very heavy and a steal at just $2.50 a knob! Not quite sure why the lady was not grabbing these up but glad she left um alone!;)

So there ya have it y'all! A tour of my laundry room and newest revamped addition! I can not tell you how  much I am LOVING the dresser in here!! I literally do abt two loads a day now! Well okay I do one load and fold it while the next dries and waits to be folded till the next day. So I guess one and half loads!;)

Insanity & A Tease!

This is partially what The Hubster came home to last night. He mentioned over the weekend that he bet I would have the entire house decorated by weeks end. I said no way since I NEVER decorate till  Thanksgiving Day. He came home and said he did not mean that comment as a challenge! Ha! 
Like I do not have enough going on already I had to come home from HobLob yesterday and tear apart the living room. I wanted to get out what all we had to see what we needed before everywhere sells thru stuff. I HATE it when that happens!! Makes me want to start decorating in May when it all hits the stores! Ha! No not really but it is pretty unnerving. Come to find out we have very little and I can not find my Mark Roberts Fairies! Urgh! Our decorations  always seemed like enough because all I ever decorated in our previous homes was the living room. Now I do the kitchen, dining room, living room, and landing. Sigh. Now that I have it all out and an idea of what I need...everything...it will have to wait till I can get back to HobLob and even Michaels. I need to work on some orders first then I can play some more. 

In the meantime here is a lil' tease! I promise to try and get pics of the entire dresser before weeks end and post um. I think you will just love how she turned out and where she ended up!

What's happening?

Hey y'all! Hope your week is starting off well. The weather here is crazy. It needs to pick a temp and stick with it. Over the weekend we got down to 38 at night and today we will be 83 during the day! No wonder my boys are always running around with snot noses. Been busy working on the kitchen island! I am soo excited to be almost done with it. I spent the morning finishing up the glazing process.  I even put the doors back on and brought the new top in from the garage and sat it on top of the one that is already one it. I  just had to see it all together!:)  It will be a few more weeks till it is 100% done though with Thanksgiving and all coming up. The Hubster and I still need to figure out what we are going to do about a nail gun which we need so we can  put trim at the bottom of the island. I am wanting to just borrow one and he wants to purchase one. Urgh!

While we decided what to do about that look at my next project! I was soo aggravated yesterday at the seller that it almost did not happen. They live 20 min away and I went to look at it in the am after dropping Littliest off at school yesterday. It needs some work for sure and so I offered them just $10 less than what they were asking. The husband said no. So I respected that decision though I thought it was ridiculous seeing as it does need some repair and new knobs. Just before time to get Littlliest the wife emails me and says she will take the $60 I offered. I emailed her back not even 10 min after she emailed me and said I would be back up there around 4ish after I picked my boys up from school. I checked my email on my phone after getting Littliest and since she had not responded I called her. She proceeded to tell me that right after she emailed me she got an email offering full price. Hmmmm. I was not biting and told her to do what she felt she needed to do all the while thinking what poor business practice this was seeing as they are a top sellers on the yard sale site. To make a long story short I got it for my offer price. It was a bit more than I think it is actually worth but it was EXACTLY what I was looking for  so I was willing to pay that. Can you guess where it might be going!? I will give you a hint: I had to kick the cats up stairs to make room for it. I am thinking yellow may be in it's near future!:) Also thinking of hunting down some vintage casters to make it a bit taller.
