Backyard Garden Makeover

Backyard Garden Makeover-From My Front Porch To Yours

It was always our intention to connect the individual flower beds to make them larger. With all the time on my hands and the beautiful weather we had in the spring I got busy transforming this small area.

Here is what it looks like today.

I expanded the beds. My vision was to create my own English Country Garden the best I could with very little gardening experience.

I looked thru inspiration pics and then while at the garden store picked out plants. The picket fenced is lined with Salvia that smells wonderful! Then there are the day lillies I added. Next is the rose bush that I transplanted from another part of our back yard. About a week after I transplanted them they looked dead. I mean so dead that there were not any leaves left but I had read plants sometimes go into shock after being transplanted so I just kept watering them and after about a month they indeed came back to life!

Blanche and Dorothy use to hang out over by our oak tree but now they flank the archway. Eventually the arch will be covered with Yellow Jasmine. I planted one Jasmine on each side. I am hoping it will eventually trail along the top of our fence as well giving a nice pop of color against the nature reserve.

I still have areas where I can add more plants once it cools off in the fall but for now it is nice just as it is. Much later down the road I envision a pathway thru the yard to archway.
