Cottage Farmhouse Christmas Trees 2019

Have any of you started to put your Christmas decor away yet? Sometimes I start the day after and sometimes I wait till mid January. This year I started putting away a few things here and there. The first thing I did was to take apart one of the trees.

Speaking of trees I am finally sharing the two trees that I decorated. This one here is our main tree. It is new this year, a 9ft slim.

I needed a slim tree so that we could still easily move from room to room since the tree has a new spot this year due to new furniture this past year.

This tree came from HobbyLobby and was less than $150. All the other trees I was looking at and dreaming about were well over $500. This one I am quite pleased with! I went with a unlit tree because I always add lights to our trees anyways and I HATE dealing with the pre-lit once they start going out.

I actually had to get out the big ladder to decorate this one and the star I had purchased for it did not fit but I will show y'all why in just a sec.

I used ornaments from years past like the gold glitter deer ornaments I had purchased from the 99 cent store years ago.

The only new addition to the main tree decor this year are these holly stems from Walmart that were less than a $1 and I embellished them with glitter. I only completed half of them so I will finish the rest in time for next Christmas.

Vintage inspired snowflake ornaments from Cracker Barrel years past. I did not even see what they had this year. Hopefully I did not miss out on anything really good!:)

Since the start that I purchased did not fit I used the book page wreath I made goodness almost 10 years ago. It touched the ceiling. :)

Here is the reason the star did not fit on the tree! I created a custom tree stand from a wooden pedestal and the Hearth & Hand bucket I purchased on clearance last year. I will share in another post how I made it work. Putting the tree in this holder lifted it a few more inches hence why the star was not going to work. It probably would have if we had taken the pedestal away but that wasn't happening and you will see why once you see how I created the stand.

I decorated a second tree this year and it sits between our living room and breakfast nook. I have always wanted a gingerbread tree so I decided this was the year I was going to start one.

Overall I say we have 27 trees up around the house!? A few of the smaller table top ones are decorated but other than these two all the others I left plain. A few I am going to leave up for winter. The gingerbread tree I am thinking will become a Valentines tree.

  1. Love your two trees shown. The slim 9' fits perfectly where you situated it. Since we downsized this year, I also downsized my tree, so I didnt even use many of my ornaments. I may use another little tree for those next year, but my scaled back version this year felt good. I took down everything yesterday except for a few strands of little lights and the tree itself (which will be easy, since it's only 4.5'. I started mid-Nov so I was ready! Happy New Year, Pamels!
