Our Suburban Farmhouse- The Story of Rock

After two weeks of what seemed like nothing happening over at the new house we finally have a little action going on.

Friday afternoon the rock prep started.

Saturday the rock went up!:)

We really love how it turned out! I had pictured in my mind a more random pattern but the style of rock we picked out did not lend itself to that. Something to keep in mind when picking out rock for projects.I am anxiously waiting to see how it all comes together once the house is painted. I am afraid the paint will blend in with the rock way too much. I am crossing my fingers I am wrong on that hunch! If I get lucky it will be lighter.

Can you spot something that is driving me insane in this pic? I am sure my mom will spot it right away and let me know. Sadly there doesn't seem to be a darn thing we can do about it though we voiced our concern before the rock even went up. The trials you have to deal with when building a track home that you are trying to make custom.Bless the crews heart for working in 100 degree heat today! I do not know how they survive it day in and day out.

The back of the house still needs to be completed.

I am thinking it will be finished today but we shall see. Sometimes the guys work on Sundays and sometimes they do not.

    1. It is the tiny faux vent above the window with the rock. It is too small and off centered. They had a larger one but never put it up. Then it was thought they were going to frame it out more with the rock but that didn't happen either.

  9. The house is coming along wonderfully - definitely has that classic farmhouse look. I am going to take a guess as to what might be driving you crazy - is it the piece of trim above the stonework on the right side of the house? I am probably wrong, but when I enlarge the photo, it appears a piece is missing. Regardless, your home is absolutely beautiful, and I am so loving that we can follow along through the entire process.

    1. lala you are right!:) It is the tiny faux vent piece above the window. It is way too small for the space and when standing directly in front of it it is not centered. It is more to the right. They had a larger faux vent piece on site but never put it up.
