Hey everyone! I know it has been awhile since I last posted but we have something huge that Mr. Front Porch and I are working on. We do not want to share the details just yet but soon I promise. It has evolved a ton of prep work that I am still not completed with but I am getting closer. I decided to take little break from all the madness and snap some pics of our breakfast nook makeover. I soon will be sharing our stair reno as well! Yes after two years we finally completed it and I can not wait to share it.
I digress so back to the breakfast nook makeover!:)
This is what our breakfast nook has looked like for the past two years. If you would like to see more of it you can click here. I loved it but it was time for a change. The table was too small and we were feeling it every night during dinner. Then back in the fall I found an amazing vintage pie safe. |
The vintage pie safe was moved into the space and then Mr. Front Porch and I got to work on building a farmhouse table that would give us the extra room that we needed. |
I changed out the light fixture so it would flow with the rest of our home light fixtures. |
The vintage pie safe is one of my most treasured finds. |
The history that it holds just amazes me and I am honored to be its current owner. |
I ordered new chairs for the space and painted them white. |
I ordered and painted these gorgeous legs after other vintage table legs I had purchased did not work. They ended up being to skinny. I love how it all worked out in the end! |
Now instead of sitting cramped up at the previous table we have enough room to add two more chairs if needed. So which design do you like the best? The bakers rack look or the new farmhouse table look? Sharing at these wonderful blogs: Savvy Southern Style Coastal Charm A Stroll Thru Life Stone Gable |

The pie safe is lovely and adds so much to the farmhouse character of the room. I love the DYI table, especially the finish. You have created a very pretty and welcoming room for meals - enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteI love the breakfast nook. It all works together to create a very warm and welcoming spot.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great table y'all built and I love the pie safe. It all looks great!
ReplyDeleteYou guys have done a great job so far, Pamela!! Your pie safe is gorgeous. I know how you feel about it. When I finally found the Hoosier cabinet I had wanted for so long, I was elated. And it's my favorite piece of furniture ever!
ReplyDeleteYour table is so unique thanks to your careful thinking and choices. Love everything! :-D

Pamela,
ReplyDeleteLuv that charming pie safe and you DIY farm table is super neat (luv those legs). Thanks for sharing your new room at Show and Share.
Blessings,
Linda
Such an inviting space now! ... and it makes me sad that several years ago I did not have the same vision to paint my table and chairs instead of replacing them. I had those chairs for over 20 years and just gave them and my table away... because I was tired of the oak look. Oh... what a goofball I am...
ReplyDeleteOh my, this is so pretty! You always amaze me with your talent for decor!

Gorgeous. Love the table, it is a keeper for sure and the pie safe is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLove it all, and I think the light fixture really gives it a "snap" that is fun and elegant!
ReplyDeleteOh I like the old pie safe best of course and can't believe you made you a farmhouse table. It all looks so good together.
ReplyDeleteI have an old pie safe just like yours in my studio full of my mothers dishes and I think I'll unload it and move it up to my kitchen
I have never heard of a pie safe but now wish I had one. You've created a very cozy space and it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour breakfast nook looks great Pamela, and that pie safe is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love your new nook and kitchen, you really lucked out with your pie safe. Good job . I would love to hang my grandmothers rolling pins and am wondering how you hung them ?
ReplyDeleteLOVE the table and the new look Pamela! Of course, I have seen it on IG but it's so nice to see it in detail and in big photos instead of tiny squares! I'm so impressed that you built the table yourselves - wow! It looks great, and I love how the pie safe simplified the room so much. The new chandelier works better too. All in all, a wonderful job!
