How I Found My Style Sundays- Coastal Charm

From My Front Porch To Yours- How I Found My Style Sundays-Coastal Charm

Hi, Front Porch readers. I am Linda from Coastal Charm. I can't believe that I am here sharing with all of you at "How I Found My Style"! Thanks Pamela for this amazing opportunity!

I'm very much drawn to casual, cottage, coastal, and farmhouse. My decorating style is always evolving because there are always so many beautiful "looks" out there and since I decorate mostly with vintage finds and re-purposed furniture, I have the flexibility to change things around quite a bit.  I think the best way to describe my style might be..."vintage chic",  which I interpret as mixing those flea market finds with new items to make my home "chic" and "comfy". A good tip for creating a beautiful home would be make paint your  best friend. There is no easier way to change the look of a room than with a can of paint. If you aren't in love with the color, paint over it. It's also,  a very thrifty way to change up your home without spending a lot of bucks on it. I can't tell you how many times I have painted the rooms in my home. I guess you could say, I'm a painting fool!  Another tip is don't just decorate your home with all retail store items and matching sets of furniture. Mix it up. Mix some vintage and found pieces with the new stuff. This will create a comfortable home. Since, I am the owner of a vintage/new home décor business called Coastal Charm Interiors, I am very big on mixing it up. I stay really busy with my business, so sometimes my nest (home) gets put on the back burner and I hate that. I am trying really hard to get more things done around here, but  making my business succeed, comes first. I live on the Alabama gulf coast, and I am lucky to also have a beach front condo. So, keeping two homes and a shop space in order, keeps a gal my age, really on my toes.

I'm a DIYer, so you will find projects like this inexpensive wooden bowl makeover. Give me a paint brush and I will change it up in, in no time.

Last August, I went back to my white slip covered furniture in our family room. It had been in my cottage for years, but like I said earlier, I always like moving things around.

Adding different texture in your furniture, is a must in my book.

A good friend of mine had this charming "chippy painted" piece in her booth and when she put it on sale, I scooped it up! I like how it looks with this DIY framed coffee sack that I made about two years ago.

Found this wonderful old gate while out junkin' in Texas and I have fun decorating it for the different holidays.

Another favorite item found while junkin', is this old "chippy paint" cabinet door. As you see, I love displaying pictures of my children throughout my home.

My dining room furniture came from my in-laws twenty eight years ago, and they are still my favorite pieces in our home.

Yes...it all matches...but I love how my hubs can walk into this room and remember his wonderful parents in here.

Using old bed springs and creating a cross, just popped into my head one day. I guess thinking outside the box is my kinda thing.
