This is how our dining room looked a few months ago. Since then I have started on revamping the curtain panels and adding other decorative touches. |
Here is what it looks like today. Ignore the blue on the ceiling. It will soon be white again. |

Hi....love all the different changes you've made. You've really got an eye for style.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing "the cat" is in the window in both pictures...but turned different ways. :)
Your dining room is looking great! I love how you decorate your chandelier - I do too :o)
ReplyDeleteI like the element of blue on the shaker bench - it adds that touch of light to the room.
Love the shutters!
I noticed your kitty in both pics. I love your dining room. I think maybe a gray for the buffet. I am going to paint a piece in my dining room too some time.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a wonderful job...love the shutters...I think everything looks perfect as it is!
ReplyDeleteThis room looks great! I love everything the way it is! Those shutters are awesome too!
ReplyDeleteLoving your new look & fluffing! The flower arrangement in the container below the mirror caught my eye. Paint and distress the cabinet with this type look. Just a suggestion. Kim over at Savvy Southern Style, which left a comment earlier with you just painted a bench that looks great. You might want to check it out, if you haven't already. But, you have it looking great already. Love the kitty too! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Pamela! I like it as it is, but if you are set on painting, I would agree with Kim and go with gray.
ReplyDeleteI would do a medium blue sanded on the edges a bit for the buffet...but that is only because I have a new found love of painting everything bright!
ReplyDeleteI actually like the blue on the bench. What I would do is to repeat this blue somewhere else in the room, perhaps on those shutters for example. I love those shutters by the way and I think that they add a great architectural interest to the room.

Love your blog! you have such cute ideas. I am your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela~ your dining room is lovely- and I do love the shutters with your mirror. The wreath you have on there is fantastic and perfect! I am loving that kitty!! :) Thanks for sharing at my party this week! :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love how you are using the shutters! Never would have thought about that. They look perfect next to the mirror. As for the color of the buffer, I really don't know. I'm a big advocate of white but that is mainly because my home is so dark.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Hey girlie! I'm loving your dining room fluffing and as I'm trying to do some of that in my own dining room I'm taking notes! :-) I think you could totally get away with painting the buffet and would definitely do something similar to your bench. I really love the shutters and don't think it looks busy at all and actually agree that plates would be perfect (maybe cause I've got something similar going on a wall in my dining room!). Thanks so much for sharing this at the party this week!

I'm visiting from Met Monday! :) I really like those shutters with the mirror.
ReplyDeleteI am in the process of trying to "lighten up" a room full of dark things too...If you leave the top of the buffet stained, you could paint it a blue/gray color to go with the bench and the rug? Unless that's not the direction you want to go in...I can't decide either so I'm practically no help in the color department! :/
Beautiful dining room! Love that blue chair/bench! Just found your lovely blog via Cindy. I'm your newest follower and would be delighted to have you follow me back!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.

Hello Pam, I love your fluffing in the dining room. Looks Great!! I'm not sure I would paint the buffet, but if you just feel you need to, how about a nice mossy green color. I noticed you have some hints of green in your fabric and; of course, the wreath and it would also go nicely with your rooster lamp and red lamp shades. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just stumbled onto your blog yesterday, and looked back through some of your posts. Great blog, by the way, but was thinking what a great job with the herb crate on top of the TV cabinet. Was wondering if you have ever considered moving your TV cabinet to another wall and using that beautiful little niche for a sitting/reading area. A nice comfy chair, table and lamp and of course some accessories would look great there. You are fortunate to have such nice features in your home. And good thinking using the old foyer chandy for a cloche!
It's just me again, Pam. I forgot to add that if you do paint the buffet mossy green (maybe the same color you have on part of your finally finished kitchen island) I would leave the top of the buffet dark like you did on the island. PS, I love your island. You did a great job, It's simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat sweet kitty cat?? I have four...I can relate!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job in this room! LOVE it! And the shutters have found the perfect place! I also like the wreath in the frame!
Beautiful!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for your lovely comments on my mirror. I have joined you as a follower and having read your previous post, will be quite happy if you just visit my blog a couple of times a year - so no pressure here!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful piece of furniture you have. I tend to agree with a previous comment and go grey but not a solid colour, just a grey wash so that the wood grain still shows.
So pretty!!! I love everything!!! So warm!!!
