Getting closer.

Hey y'all! Hope your first full week of the New Year has been a good one! I have been busy with back to school for the boys and catching up with some sewing. I also started on my loooooong to do list. I apologize for the following two pics. I just now ran out in the garage to take them with my phone cause well  I was just to lazy to bust out the real camera and wait for Iphoto to load and then upload the pics!:)
This is the top of the kitchen island which is finally 100% completed! I know you have seen a similar pic already but trust me when I say this is three sandings later and finally looks just perfect! It is out in the garage waiting for the poly to dry. I am hoping to get it on sometime tomorrow or Sunday.

And here is the trim that was sanded down, stained and now has two coats of paint to match the body of the island. Tomorrow I need to sand it down in spots again and then glaze it as well as add some stain  so The Hubster can start cutting it down. It will go around the base of the island. I am thinking by next weekend it will be done hopefully! I will need to rub some stain on the entire island body and then poly it all but with the temps flip flopping back and fourth it is taking things a bit longer to dry. I am making progress though!:)

Before I go I wanted to introduce y'all to Kristin over at Ink Blots & Polka Dots! I stumbled upon her over at Miss Mustard Seeds for Furniture Feature Friday. Kristin did this amazing redo to her Ikea tv cabinet! I left a message and Kristin quickly responded with a lovely message of her own so I went over to explore her blog some more. I saw that she is new to bloggy land and only has been blogging since December. I can tell already she will have wonderful projects to share.

This is her newly remolded kitchen!! So drool worthy! If ya get a chance head on over to Ink Blots  & Polka Dots and say hi to Kristin! I can not wait to see what she shares next in between wrestling her three boys!:)

Why is getting back to a routine so difficult? This first week back has been crazy.
