A Napkin & Some Webbing

I have had these pretty red toile napkins sitting around for awhile now. My mama gave them to me several years ago. I also have a ton of jute webbing that I ordered back at Christmas hoping that it would come in in time for me to put on the tree but it didn't. So what do you do when you have some napkins and some jute webbing just laying around collecting dust?
You go upstairs and dust off your old best friend. I have not used my sewing machine in sometime. We use to spend hours upon hours together.

In less than 30 minutes this is what I came up with. Not bad for my first attempt at making a pillow!

Now if I can only figure out how to blind stitch it closed! I have spent almost two hours attempting it last night and had to just sit it down and walk away. Hopefully it will come to me today.

Before I go I have to tell ya how truly honored I am to have our home featured over Debbiedoos! Just click on the button and it will take ya over to her fabulous blog.

Treasure Hunt Thursday #51 & Highlights

Welcome to Treasure Hunt Thursday #51! Hope everybody's week is going well. I wanted to let y'all know that from here on out I will be posting THT on Thursday mornings. I hope that that will not bother anybody and that means that the party will stay open thru Wed nights. Now lets get on to the highlights from last weeks party.

Did y'all see this fabulous Ballard knockoff jug? Head over to Miss Fibbertigibbet to check it out and get tips on how to maybe even make one of your own.

I love Kelly's new memo board over at Eclectically Vintage

I have really been wanting to make a pallet project and now after seeing this fabulous clock that Dusty made over at Cherish Life I really need to hunt down a pallet.

As always thank you to all who partied last week! I am so truly honored to have such talent partying at my place! If you were featured please feel free to grab the "I've Been Featured" button!:) I have the newly updated button with html code on my sidebar!  Though I was unable to leave a comment on every persons blog please know that I did stop by and visit!! I appreciate everybody taking the time to come over every week! What would be a HUGE help and encourage more comments not just from me but others as well would be for everybody to take off their required verification codes for leaving a comment. This seems to take just a few seconds of time but when you have to do it on 30 or more blogs it takes up a TON of time.

Now on to this weeks party!
As with all parties there are the normal rules. You must link back to From My Front Porch To Yours in your THT POST. Just common courtesy. If ya don't link back ya don't get to party. Only link up to your Treasure Hunt Thursday post and NOT your blog homepage. Please No advertising and PLEASE NO MORE than 3 links from the SAME party goer. If you find your post deleted it is not because I am a meany, I just have to make sure the rules are being followed. You can save some of your posts for the following weeks party! Please only link up new posts and not posts that you linked up the week before. Also be sure to visit at least the link before you and after you to just say Hi! It makes partying all the more fun! If you are new around here I would love it if ya become a follower!:)

Beautiful Day

It has been an overcast but beautiful day outside this morning so I have been working on some painting projects and enjoying the cool breeze.
This is a nesting table that I have had out at the cottage but it hasn't sold so I brought it home to add a little something special to it. I figured since I already had the stencil why not.

I am also trying to finish up this farmhouse style coffee table so I can get it gone and out of the garage. The Hubster has almost two weeks of vacation coming up since he has been working so much so I promised him I would try and clear out the garage beforehand so we can organize it while he is off.

The most exciting project I am working on is the frenchy desk! I stripped the top and now I am not sure if I am happy with it or not. It may get painted. I am using a crackle technique on the bottom portion and this is the first layer. Trying to decide if I want to finish it off with Old White or if I want to do a layer of Old White and then a custom grey on top. Just not sure yet.

So what have you been up to today?

Praying for those in the DFW area after the terrible storms and tornadoes ripped thru yesterday! I my heart goes out to y'all.
Just an FYI Treasure Hunt Thursday will be live TOMORROW morning. I haven't had a chance to view all the entries from last week and I want to beforehand so see ya in the am!:)

Neoclassical Chair Makeover

Back in February I purchased this Neoclassical chair from the same lady that I purchased the frenchy chairs that are in our office. She showed it to me and I was intrigued. I sat in it and it felt like I was sitting on a board but I knew it had possibilities so home it came.

This is the true color it was. Ekkk! Rather scary indeed.

And here it is today after a month and a half. I started it at the tail end of February and piddle with it on and off. Thats just how I roll.

When I was taking the pleather fabric off the cushion I found three others below it that were just as unattractive. I decided to spare ya those!;) Underneath all of those  there was not one piece of cushion to be found. No wonder it felt like I was sitting on a board.  I fluffed it up and used a drop cloth to recover it since it has the most fabulous soft feel to it after it is washed. I was wanting to do a bit more and was thinking of painting red stripes down the center to make it look like a grain sack but then I remembered I had some chair webbing and put that down the middle instead.

I used Paris Grey and Vintage White and then highlighted areas with gold Rub-n-Buff. The Rub-n-Buff was one of the most tedious parts about the chair since you have to be extremely careful on where you put it because it will not come back off. If I had messed up I would have had to repaint.

I finished it off with clear and dark wax. My favorite clear wax is CeCe Caldwell clear wax and my favorite dark wax is Fiddes & Sons.

Here you can see some of the gold highlighting and two tone paint.

I really enjoyed the challenge of making over this chair. It was my second attempt at upholstering and left me tell ya it wears on your hands big time! I am not sure I could do an upholstery job much bigger than a seat cushion. It would take me an entire year instead of a month a half!;)

Thanx for stopping by!

Sneak Peek

I spent the afternoon finishing up a chair I had started wayyyyyyy back in February. Yes, I said February. I am not known to finish up projects in a timely manner too often. I get side tracked very easily and start on 10 others in the meantime. I know I am not the only one out there who is afflicted with this so no judging!;)
"Whitney" is finished now thankfully so be sure to come back by tomorrow. I am hoping to have her photo session completed for her reveal.
Hope your Monday was a grand one!

A Little Change

Happy April1st! I was trying to think of a funny April Fools Day joke for y'all but honestly I got nothing. So I am going to share a little change I did in our dining room instead.
When my mom was here we went shopping at HomeGoods of course. She doesn't have one so I always make sure to take her there when she comes. They have a Marshalls that has like one isle of decor. It may be a good thing she doesn't actually have a full HomeGoods!;)
While we were there I spotted this. Can you guess what it is?

If you guessed a table runner you would be correct. As soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect in our dining room.

I think it looks much better than the piece of scrap burlap I had there before. I just love the colors. They are so bright and springy but not overwhelming. If ya haven't seen our spring dining room yet be sure to click here for the tour.
Also don't forget this is the last week to join in on my Porch Party! There are already some fabulous entries so snap a pic of your porch and come back to party with us!
Hope your weekend is going well!
