Home Office In The Midst

So last week The Hubster talked me into starting on the home office. I mean we have only been here a year and there it still just sits. I was soo not ready to tackle that project but since he was ready and rearing to go plus ready to help I said sure why not. Here is as far as we have gotten.

Here we are looking into to the office in February. It was a Christmas storage area for a short time. Christmas finally got put away but then that left the rest of The Hubsters crapolla to contend with.

Here is where it has ended up.

As well as in here. I am sure you can see why I may be a little nutso right now. It is like we just moved in all over again. But ya know they say it always gets worse before it gets better with home projects.

Here is the view into the office from the dining room present day.

I think we will be purchasing the paint tomorrow. I think I we will be going with Whole Wheat on all the walls except the middle wall. I think the middle wall will be Svelte Sage. I also think I may attempt a suede finish over the Svelte Sage. This all of course is just what I am thinking as of this very moment. It may very well change between today and tomorrow. With the 14 ft walls I have to make 100% sure my thinking is what I really want. There are no do overs anytime in the near future. Pretty much it will mirror the entry into the office. Any thoughts or suggestions on paint color please share!
I am loving the rug which is an indoor/outdoor rug that we purchased at Costco about a month ago for just $70!! Quite a steal for that size rug I think! The table that we are using as a desk was FREE from our neighbor. They sat it out at the curb during the last yard sale. The curtains are $9.99 a panel from Tuesday Morning. Not quite sure how I am hanging them yet. I may have to add some fab to make um long enough. Eventually the little windows will have bamboo blinds added to match the little windows in the dinning room. All custom which will have to wait.

Here is the opposite corner of the office. It will be our challenge. We have to figure out what to put all of The Hubsters crapolla in.

These will hold some of it and are much further along than they are in this pic. I am just going back and fourth on what else I want to do to them. They will go on either side of the "desk".
Here is the view from the office into the foyer. I am thinking some kind of wood architecture piece above the door or an ironwork. Whatever is cheap! Ha! It does need something though.

And as if the office was not enough look at this inspiration pic. I LOVE the ceiling in this dining room! I love it so much that....

I added a touch of blue to ours. Super size the pic so you can better see it over there in the corner. What do you think?? Should I go for it or should I just stay white?? I am hoping the faux box ceiling will be an easy project to do. Then I will add the picture box trim around the bottom of the chair rail and then the dining room will be almost 100% complete! At least for now. I am thinking Santa needs to come early and bring me this in the near future.

Have a great weekend! In the morning we are off to pick up something that I am just dying to get my hands on!!! I am SUPER excited and can not wait to share!

This & That & The Other

It has been storming all week so we are kinda disappointed we are not able to spend time up at the pool. Speaking of which it is thundering right now. Urgh. Since we have been stuck inside I have been trying to keep myself busy and sane while Oldest and Littliest busy themselves with cars and Geo Trax.
HobLob finally had a 40% coupon this week but wouldn't ya know it their trim was 30% off. I still used the 40% off though on the $6.99 trim. For $20 here are some lamp updates that I have completed the past few days.

This is a before and sorta completed chandy shade.

Here are all of the chandy shades 100% completed! I love how they turned out. At first I was just going to place that smaller trim at the top of the shades but then decided it looked even nicer with it paired up with the ball trim. Thankfully the smaller trim was only $1.26 because I purchased over 6 yards of it!:)

This pics is from wayyyyyyyyy back last fall when I was still trying to figure out window treatments for the breakfast room. That material will soon become aprons but I digress. See that lamp up there on the pie safe? It has tiny little bright red beads all round the bottom. They did not match the lamp what so ever.

I chopped off the little red beads and added the same trim from the chandy to this shade as well plus several others thru out the house just to tie things in together.

HobLob lamp in the living room which I loved but was kinda blah.

Blah shade now updated. Sorry for the poor pic quality. The light was streaming thru the window too much for the camera....yeah, it is the cameras fault!;)

Here is a lamp we purchased at Lowes. It is actually a pair of buffet lamps. I love the little sage colored bow on it.

Here it is today. I am trying to find some antique looking pin or something to add to the center of the bows.

Now this shade needs some loving but I am lost on what to do with it. I am afraid to add color to it but at the same time I do not want to go all black and khaki. Any suggestions?

Here is also another project I have been working on. Key fobs/wristlets! For awhile now I have been wanting to start making some other things than just baby items and so this is what I have come up with so far. I have many other ideas but this was the first idea I wanted to accomplish since I already had all the supplies for um.

I have not listed them in my Etsy shop yet because I want to run to HobLob and get a towel thingy to display them from for pics but if you see one you would like to have just let me know which one. I can shoot ya a PayPal invoice and ship it right out to ya!:) They are going to be $6.50 plus $2.00 shipping. If my new items do well I will be opening a new Etsy shop for all of the grown up goodies!:)
Hope your week is going well ya'll! Off to see what else I can busy myself with till the next storm comes thru.

Sunday House Tour 2

Happy Sunday! We have been busy over here at our house. We ALL went to brunch at Chuck E Cheese yesterday at 9:30 a.m. for our friends daughter's 5th birthday! Oldest and Littliest were sooo very excited and turns out a good time was had by all. We are not normally Chuck E people. That place makes me nervous. It was nice and quiet though because the craziness of the place was not present. It ended up being the perfect time to go. Afterwards we came home and relaxed a little and then The Hubster got a crazy and said he wanted to start painting the office!! He NEVER says hey lets start a painting project! Ha! I on the other hand said hold up cowboy cause I was NOT in the mood to be painting a room with 14 ft ceilings. I did compromise though and we cleaned the office out which pretty much ment moving all the unpacked boxes of his crapolla out into my orderly dining room and then the foyer. It is driving me INSANE. It is a good thing though because we then placed our "desk" where we...I...wanted it and then also busted out our new rug we had purchased at Costco a few weeks back. I know I will have to roll it back up to paint but I HAD to see what it would look like! HA! I am loving it. Of course no pics just yet. I promise soon though.
Now on to Sunday House Tour 2! This home is in one of our favorite dream communities! It sits on the lake and the golf course. It is the location of where Tin Cup was filmed! How dreamy it would have been to have had a house on the course and watched Costner walking by! Yum!:) We load up the minivan every Christmas Eve and it is the first hood we go light seeing in. The houses there are spectacular and HUGE and so are the lights. There is one circle in there where everybody decorates and it is like a winter wonderland.

I just love this house and all of its charm. To me it is very French Cottage like. Sorry the pics are not very large. It is all they had available to me.

Here is the office which is VERY dark. The first thing I would do is rip out the carpet and put in hand scraped wood floors. Then I would rip out the tile on the fireplace surround and replace it with faux brick tiles. Is that crazy?? I want to do that to our fireplace surround and The Papa is dead set against it. If you are going for french country or even traditional I think you just have to have brick on your fireplace somewhere. Anyways, I then would paint out all of that wood.

Here is the view from the kitchen into the family room. I love that fireplace! In here I would paint out the beams to look like rustic wood beams. Then I would replace the teeny tiny mantle with a larger more look at me mantel. That one is not even large enough to hang Christmas stockings on. The brick floor of course would have to stay because I am sure it would be a pain to rip out or go over. It could work though I would prefer hand scraped wood thru out the entire house if money was not an issue and since it is a dream house then lets say money is NOT an issue and just go for it! Ha!

Here are those beams again! They are to die for! I am just loving this room. Of course all the beams would be painted out faux.

The large double doors to the back yard. I just love these as well. I wish they were wood though and not painted out white. They remind me so much of our front door in Baton Rouge.

Here is the best pic of the kitchen that they had. I hate not having great pics in a listing but in their defense they do have a virtual tour with better pics. I just could not get those for ya. Anyways, Beams again. Been there and addressed those. The counter tops I think are tile granite so I would rip um out and do full granite. A house of this size and price demands slab granite and not tile. The cabinets would be glazed and then a real pretty back splash added.

Check out this porch ya'll!! Southern living at its best!

Everybody say Ohhh Ahhh! Yes, it is spectacular.

I am ready for some nice cold lemon aide! Whose first to jump in!
Okay so the back yard is dreamy but only if the boys were like teeny boppers. Otherwise it appears there is no green space what so ever. A major downer if you want a garden and what not.
All in all it is a beautiful home with soo much potential that if it were mine I would be just giddy! It is a whopping 5,500 sq feet so maybe I would not be soo giddy abt that part. Money is not an issue in this dream though so let the maid come on in! Ha! In all that space there are only 4 bedrooms. Hmmmm, I see a remolding project for a fifth somewhere in there. 5 and half baths and a 3 car garage. The dream could be all yours for just a mere $765,000! Mere pennies in other parts of the country I know! So come on down to god ol' TX where everything is bigger except home prices!
Have a good one ya'll! Hope you enjoyed the tour. Now off to go and surprise the boys with Despicable Me!
