Kids Bedrooms

It is that time of week again! I have come to look forward to Show Us Where You Live over at Kelly's Korner every Friday!  I will have to steal the laptop away from hubby at the hotel  this weekend so I can see every body's rooms! Kids rooms to me are the best rooms of all. You can have soo much fun with them.

The past two years Oldest has been begging me to replicate his big boy room from our previous home. I am amazed he remembers it because he was just a little over 3 when we moved.  Here is an almost done big boy room. I HATE that I did not take better pictures of it. Maybe I did but I can not find them!:(

The cars are decals I found on Ebay by some artist.  The airplanes are Wallies from PBK. I loved how it turned out so much that I had bought duplicates of the Wallies and cars so I could replicate it. I decided since I did not do it here for the boys I will paint it again in their play room at the new house.

Here is the boys room in our current home. It technically is Oldest's room but Littliest sleeps in here as well. He has since he was 19 mths old. On a trip back to Ga for Thanksgiving I let the boys sleep together at the GPs house and well that did it. As soon as we came home there was NO going back in the crib. Littliest had to sleep with big brother. They even share the bottom bunk because I will not allow either of them on the top. The bed wiggles too much so at the new house the beds will stay separated.

Different view of the room. The dresser I actually finished for hubby back when we first moved into our very first home that we built. It was the first real piece of bedroom furniture we ever had. Even though I love it it may be getting painted at the new house.

Here is the nursery in our current home. Even though Littliest only spent 4 months sleeping in here he still calls it his room. We asked numerous times if he wanted a big boy bed in there and he said no he likes sleeping with brother. Easy enough for us. Made staging really easy though I need to get the quilt back up on the wall.

This is the nursery at our old house. I love the blue walls. To me it makes the bedding pop more especially the curtains. I purchased this set for Littliest first birthday because I wanted him to have something of his own and I was tired  of sail boats. The valance is store bought and the panels were made by me and Nana. The polka dots I just traced on some heat bond and iron on to the fab and then cut out and ironed on to the panels. No sewing involved. I admit  started to sew um for effect but gave up after two because it took tooo much time.

So there you have it. My boys rooms! I can not wait to see what their new room will look like. We have already started planing for it. Oldest voted for a dinosaur bedroom so for his 5th bday every body purchased pieces of Company Kids dinosaur bedding. I even found a patch work  comforter at Target that matches perfectly so Littliest will get that with a dino sham and Oldest will get the Dino comforter with the sham that matches the patchwork quilt from Target ( I would link but can not find it on the website). I just can't wait! I even promised to attempt a volcano on the wall with a flying Pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling. I think I have talked Oldest into just some dinosaur decals I found on Etsy. The Pterodactyl I think I can do. Not to sure abt the volcano. I also think the beds will be going black.
Thanx for stopping by ya all! Its been fun! I will be back on Monday for sure but maybe Sunday to share our new house!

The Happy Dance

We are doing the happy dance here! Yesterday while I was showing a prospective buyer our home before it lists the relo company finally called and said since we know the routine we could go ahead and house hunt this weekend! Again doing the happy dance! Right now the GPs are on their way in from Ga to watch the boys so hubby and I can hopefully purchase our new home in abt a 24 hr time period. We have only abt 20 homes and I am very quick to decide if I like home and if I do not. When we came hunting here we looked at  a little over 20 homes in less than three hours and they were spread out around town.  I am guessing we can maybe beat that. The thing that sucks is that the interest rates have gone up since two weeks ago and that makes us boil.
Just working on a custom order and  waiting for the GPs to arrive so the circus can officially begin! Hope your day is going well!

Merry Christmas!

It seems that time has just flown by with all of this moving madness and that I have no idea what month it really is so let me be the first to wish you ladies a very Merry Christmas!

Oh no wait it is REALLY only May still so I ask why in the world is my home away from home putting out Christmas decorations already!!?? That was a major pet peeve of mine last year and a few before that. HL always starts putting out the holiday items in July and it makes me sooo mad because well it was summer   NOT winter! With doing so the problem always rises that when it actually comes time to get all of our pretties out and actually get into the holiday season we can NEVER find everything we need to complete what we are attempting to do.  So I am very sad to say that it is only May and HL seems to think there will be a rush on holiday items this year. I have thought about boycotting HL in the past to take a stand so they really know we DO NOT want holiday decorations in JULY or even May now but truth be told that will NEVER happen. I love my HL and it truly is my home away from home but geez!

I did find this lovely green fabric that goes with the plaid fabric I recently spied while lingering the isles. I now am thinking more of a living room treatment instead of kitchen or one that flows from room to room. You know it really is hard trying to make plans for a room you have never seen before! We keep crossing our fingers that "our" house stays available for us! Another day goes by and still no call from Cartus the relo company.

So while waiting for the call to come in to tell us 'yes go by your dream house' I look around at what else I could possibly do to this home. Ah yes those shelves above the built in tv armoire. Those shelves. Only once has every one of them been filled and that was at Christmas and only like A day before Christmas. You have to stand on a freaking 7 ft ladder to even reach them and actually that is not even tall enough so I mostly just left them abandoned for the last two years.  That was until yesterday after our HL trip. I was inspired to do something with them for only a few bucks. We came home and I had remembered this 'LOVE' sign that I purchased a few months back for only $4 but I hated the black and red on it but knew it could be something beautiful. I was puzzled by what paper to use to replace the red and black until I was cleaning the shelves off above the tv and I came across the papers I had on display that I was thinking of using to back the shelves. That project was halted by hubby. He thought I was insane! Anyways, the paper was a perfect choice I think to redo my 'LOVE' sign and all for no money out of pocket. I even distressed the letters after gluing the paper down and then aged them with some scrap booking liquid stuff that makes paper look aged.

The result is this. So the shelves are only half way there. I am hoping that just maybe I can get away with one more sprig of fern and that will be that. It is no way near perfect but for this home it will do. If we were staying I could spend possibly another month on them!
Have a great day ladies!

One last note before bed...

I had a fellow blogger stop by this evening and visit for a spell. She asked that I read abt Maggie Cobb and add her to my prayers. Please stop by Teresa's blog to read some more abt Maggie and grab the Praying for Maggie button as well! Miracles happen every day!

Happy Monday...well almost Tuesday!

Okay so if you are on the East Coast it is already Tuesday but I have exactly four minutes left of Monday. Not much happening here in Cajun country for us. Worked a few hours yesterday and today on getting the house ready to go on the market.  It is just the little tedious things that are left and of course you always think something else could be better but I know I will never get it all done and well honestly it looks pretty darn good around here. Hubby keeps telling me the more money I put into this house the less we have for the new one so I have to stop the insanity sometime.
We had a couple interested in looking at our home so I took pics today and posted them. After looking at them I realized leaving this home will be bitter sweet which I did not think it would be seeing as we have only been here two years. I guess two hurricanes and a freak snow storm can top the list of memorable happenings. Just not as memorable as building our first home and having two babies there. It is a beautiful home that God blessed us with and we certainly would pick it up and bring it with us if we could. We put a lot of sweat equity in to it to get the curb appeal we were after. The house came with ZERO landscaping. I pray whomever moves in next will love the yard and house as much as we have!
So on to business, as promised I am going to show you all were we actually dine in our home. On to the tour...

Welcome! This is what you see as you enter our home from our back entrance which is the only entrance we really use since our parking is in the back of our home. I saw this little sign at Hobby Lobby and just fell in love with its charm and had to have it!

Better view from backdoor.
Now this is where we actually dine around here! A little fancy but again we have no dining room so I jazzed it up a bit more than a normal breakfast area. You can see my half sewn window treatments half mistreatments and my steal of a table and chairs!

I LOVE a bargain and we hunted high and low for a dining set before we got married . Even had one on order at Pier 1.   One day I was walking thru Lowes and whola this beauty jumped out at me! Well she was not a beauty to begin with in the least! She was just an unfinished pine table that actually had the words 'Floor Sample' stamped on her in red. She was the last one they had and I was actually able to get them to sell her to me for yes can you believe it $25!! Then to top it off a few weeks later I came across again at Lowes our chairs. They were again just $25 and not a piece but for two!! I purchased three sets. One set is still boxed up in the garage.

I had soo much fun refinishing this table! At the time hubby was away at Ga Tech and I still lived with my mom and well at night after work I wood actually sand the table little by little in my bedroom. Mom caught on and said it had t go outside so outside it went into the future in laws garage where I spent many hours working on it. I even had my future mother in law better know n these days as Nana out there working on it some too!:) I wanted it to look old and distressed on the top. The green stain turned out really as well for that farm house look I was going for. In the new house though the green will be going black.

Here is a closer view of my window treatments/mistreatments. We had lived her several months without any covering s on the windows which was fine because we have no backyard neighbors. It was driving me insane though. On a very limited budget there was not many options and then I found some gorgeous panels at Target one day. Again a little formal for a breakfast room but I was determined they would work. They were also on the short side since we have extra long windows in there. I bought one a week as well as the valances to match which at the time had tassels on them. When the in-laws came to visit I commissioned Nana to help me cut two of the panels in half to create four panels and then to cut off the tassels on the valances so we could sew them on to the panel to make them the length I needed.  I think they turned out pretty good.  My father in-law better known as Papa these days created a curved rod for me with a metal connection pipe from Lowes so we would not have to go out and buy an angled rod! A few months back though I went an extra mile after stumbling upon The Nester and her mistreatments. I found the gold fab at Hobby Lobby where else!? I just cut it the width of the windows and then glues trim to the bottom and used straight pins to create the poof or whatever you call it. Then I used upholstery tacks and tacked um up there.

While we are in here I might as well show ya the rest of the kitchen! Sorry it is a little dark but I turned the flash off because I was getting a glare.

Aw, where all those loving family meals of hot dogs and mac and cheese are made!
And yes I know I have clutter  and am allowed to have clutter till the sign is officially in our front yard! I am enjoying my last few days of allowed clutter!:)

This is the view from our living room.

My shelf yet again from my home away from home HL. I love my fork and spoon again HL. I also love my Mark Roberts cooking fairy that my mom gave me fore Christmas this past year. Thanx Mom!

These are two dear items I have as well. The one is a beautifully handcrafted pie safe made by none other than the man known as Papa! My sister in law had one and I soo fell in love with it that Papa made us one as a wedding gift! I love it just as much as I did back then! Thanx Papa Bear! I have had visions of it going black but I think I will fight that urge!  And yes if you had not noticed the LARGER than life RED popcorn machine then look again. We love popcorn around theses parts and we have movie night every Sat or at lest try to. One day at Sams we saw this LARGER than life RED popcorn machine and my boys went crazy over it. We saw it for months and after a few months my birthday rolled around and guess what littliest who is 3 told his daddy he wanted them to get me for my birthday?? Yes the LARGER than life RED popcorn machine and so they did. I love this machine not because it is LARGER than life, not because it is RED and not because we love popcorn but because of the pride littliest takes in this LARGER than life RED popcorn machine. He will proudly tell you when asked and sometimes even when not asked that it was HIS idea to buy mommy the LARGER than life RED popcorn machine and that it was a great idea that was all HIS!
On that note it is now officially Tuesday morning and I have rambled on long enough! Have a good one ya all!
