A Few Changes in the Living Room

Not too long ago I shared this pic with y'all of the side table I have been using as a tv console. It was  being used here just till I found the perfect console.

 Kathy over at Creative Home Expressions recently shared what pieces of furniture in her home are off limits to painting. She then wanted to know what pieces were off limits in our homes. Here are my untouchables.

I purchased not one but two of these fabulous french country chairs last year from the local yard sale site. They were only $25 a piece and a steal in my book. There was not a thing wrong with them and solid as can be. I love all of the embellishing and could never even think of painting these lovelies. Now mind you I have seen similar painted and love those as well but for these they will forever stay in their original state. If I ever find some extra ones though they may just get painted!;) 

This is a piece that The Nana bought for us back when we moved into our first home. I have always loved vintage pieces and this was my very piece. 

I purchased this french country bench right after we moved into our current home. I just love it and I do not foresee ever painting it unless it gets beat up from wear and tear from two little boys. 

This is our little dining set in the breakfast room. I purchased the table at Lowes back before The Hubster and I were married. It was the very last one and had DISPLAY stamped on the top in red ink. I talked them into selling it to me for just $25! I took it to my future in laws garage and started working on it with The Nana. 

This was the first piece of furniture I ever refinished. I can not imagine changing it in anyway but I do need to sand the top down and re stain it. After ten years and two boys it needs a fresh coat.

Our chairs in here will never be painted either. I purchased them at Lowes around the same time as the table. They were on clearance for just $25 for a set of two!! I guess I have been a bargain shopper from the very beginning. I can remember The Papa putting a set of these together just so we could see what they looked like. One set was enough for him!;) I did just recently added the iron scrolly piece to two of the chairs though.

This is our kitchen island that I transformed awhile back. It took quite a few months but so worth it to me. I just love this piece to pieces and it would seriously pain me to ever have to change it! You can see its transformation here.

Now this piece is the piece of all pieces. It will NEVER get touched. The Papa made this for me and The Hubster as a wedding gift! I just love it in every way! It is a piece we will cherish forever and hopefully pass down generation to generation.

So there you have my untouchables. Funny thing I noticed when doing this post was that $25 is the magic number for me. Most everything I purchased was $25! How funny!

For Sale

Well I did it, I listed a few of my furniture pieces on the local yard sale site this past Thursday. I was a bit nervous to say the least. Every morning since then I would repost in hopes of getting a message that somebody was interested.

I listed this cute lil' island that I had painted and distressed after we moved in. It was in perfect condition and I hated to think of letting it go but we no longer needed it. So it got a coat of poly which I had never gotten around to doing and drug outside for some cute pics. Can't show ya just how cute the pics were cause that would give away another project I have been working on!;)
Anywho, I got a bite this evening and she came by to look at it and well this lil' island now has a new home. So excited to say the least as I keep telling myself it was the cute distressed black paint job that sold her on it!;) Broke even on this piece which is pretty darn good since we bought her almost two years ago. It is like we got to use her for free. 

Of course I also listed my lil' frenchy side table.  Still waiting on some bites on this one. I may drop the price a tad in the next few days maybe. 

Littliest and I picked this table up last week.

We came home and got started right away on it. Littliest was adamant that he was going to get the groody plastic things off the bottom of the legs for me.

One very determined little boy he is! Needless to say he ended up riding his bike while I popped them off. 

Here is a sneak peek thus far! I hope to have it finished by the weekend. Can't wait to share the reveal. Keeping fingers crossed it turns out ok looking.

Treasure Filled Thursday

Wow today has been a very busy day! We were up bright and early waiting on the air tech to get here. The fourth bedroom down stairs had no air flow what so ever. No fun for the in laws when they were here. Sorry Nana & Papa! We also were waiting for the delivery men to bring our treasures we found last weekend.

We purchased this. We wanted a full entertainment center but our cut out was too short for all the ones we liked. It is not top quality as somebody close to me pointed out lovingly but I love the look of it and later down the road I can always paint it since it is solid pine. I am going to switch out the knobs and then stencil something on the doors. Just a little something to make it come to life and not look so ordinary. Any ideas? I am going to use the drawers for candles probably since hubby wants all the movies up in the movie room.

It will go here. This is our cut out. Look at all those cords. They have been taunting me since the day we moved in.

Then we purchased this at the same time. I love the dark wood stain and how rustic it looks. It has a drawer in the front and the top lifts up on the back for more storage. Think it looks nice with Tobacco Road on the wall behind it??

This one will be heading upstairs to the game room. I purchased her many many moons ago at Havertys. Geez that probably was 9 yrs ago and the funny thing is that she still sells new in stores! We love her and she has suited her purpose very well. I bought her with every intention of future toy storage and since she does do such a great job at it we will keep her.

Now I had been trying to talk hubby into this Thomasville side table at Target. I LOVE the color and the turned style legs and the shelf at the bottom. I just need one and it will replace the PB end tables we have had just as long as the coffee table. They too will go up to the game room. Anyways, I was able to take it down off the shelf the other day and she seems kinda short and I did not really want to pay $148 for her.

Look what I found today on the local yard sale site! A pine end table and they had exactly one! They wanted $25 for her but when I got there in a torrential downpour she was in a little worse shape than the pic shows so I offered $20. She now sits out in the garage waiting to be cleaned up and made to be beautiful! I am not decided on whether to stain her dark or to paint and distress her black. I am thinking maybe black...

Also today while on the local yard sale site I saw a business posting for a little gift shop called The Old Oak Cottage. I loved what she showed in the pics she had posted so me and the boys hopped right in the mini and headed over there. It did not exists when we lived here last. Silly me forgot the camera so the next time I go I will take plenty of pics of all the pretties these ladies have to offer! If you live in the area it is definitely worth a trip! These are a few of the pretties that I actually brought home. Little birdie will get a makeover sooner or later. I could not pass her up for under $5!

Remember these?? Well after we got home I went back out in the garage and worked on them and the chandy. I had to purchase a differ color for the chandy because I did not like how she was turning out and now I love it!
Here is a sneak peek at the progress. I can not wait to finish um off and bring um in the house!

A Few New Buttons=New Inspirations

If ya look over to the right you will see a few new additions to my buttons. When I visit a site and just love it I have to have their button! These blogs to me are daily visits and have so many wonderful ideas and inspirations. I know you will just love them too!

One of the ladies whose button I added today...I am sorry I forgot who it was right now... had a post abt Paula Deen introducing a new furniture line out in the fall! I was thrilled and had to find out more. So click here and hear in her owns words what Paula's new line is all about. I so feel her style! Now will I ever be able to afford any of her pieces? More than likely not but what wonderful inspiration these pieces are. Here a few of my favorites!

This chair is my fave though I would love to see it in a differ color pallet. I can see it sitting in my living room or in the corner of the kitchen.

This is a great table/island of sorts. I love the turned legs and storage areas underneath.
