Today's post will bring y'all up to date on where I am at with our laundry room makeover. I will be honest I could have had this makeover completed earlier if I had just not dragged my feet. We thought that we were going to have issues with moving the washer and dryer down the wall. Our dryer was beyond a pain to hook up when we moved in and it took us hours to finally get it connected. We were so sure that we were going to have to disconnect it to move it so I avoided tackling this makeover something fierce. Well with the fridge sitting in the spot where our Christmas tree goes I knew I needed to just get the task over with so I could deck the halls come time. Turns out the dryer was a breeze to move with no issues at all! It is not often that things turn out way easier than expected when doing home improvements so it was a very welcomed surprise!
Here is a peek at the space with the new Peel & Stick faux tin wallpaper on the ceiling. On the list of things left to do is to add some type of crown molding. |
With the fridge in place I still needed to finish the Peel & Stick above the washer and dryer. |
Of course while I was hanging the rest of the Peel & Stick I decided that the side of the cabinet needed some character. I had some scrap lat left over from another project so this cost nothing but time. I do though need to purchase some more because I was one piece short but that is ok. I have plans to put skinny lap on all the sides of our kitchen cabinets eventually. I had come up with several ideas that included the taking down of this oddly placed cabinet but in the end I just decided to leave it up. For the space that I left as is that will be covered up. We will be building a counter top to place over the washer and dryer. After that we will build a ledge that we can sit on top of the counter top that will cover up the electrical and what not on the wall but that we can easily remove if/when needed. Above that there will be open shelving with chippy corbels. This is where the space is today. I had to stop working on it so that I could get back to my brick project that I started on some time ago. I will be sharing more on that soon! Once the brick project is completed and the halls are decked I will be back in the laundry room.
