This past week I shared with y'all our breakfast nook makeover. In the last post I dropped a hint about my current project telling y'all to look in the right hand corner of this pic.
Did anyone catch on to what my current BIG project is? |
Let's rewind to early 2017 when I made these selections for our new home. The tile ended up being our backsplash for our range. The new kitchen hardware has since been installed. The corbels though initially for the range hood are now going to be used to support our counter top from the kitchen to the living room. Then there is the brick. |
Finally after 2 years the brick has come into play! One Saturday while strolling the isles of a local hardware store Mr. Front Porch and I noticed this brick on display. We purchased a box and brought it home to see what it would look like in our space. Turns out it is the EXACT same brick that we picked out over two years ago just under a different name. I realized this after staring at the new brick for a few days. I kept thinking it looked identical and sure enough when I laid out the samples of the previous brick selection it was dead on. Funny how things work out sometimes. |
Now I have a hallway full of brick...and a pup who has to know what I am doing at all times. Too bad she can't lay brick. LOL. I have BIG plans for my brick project. It actually is several projects in one. I am going to be installing the brick in several areas of our home. |
One of the first areas is this column in our kitchen/breakfast nook area. |
I am wanting the brick to look like it has been here a 100 years so I am making sure that it has slight imperfections along the way. |
I am currently in the process of adding mortar to the column. |
I am also working on adding brick to the archways of our little vestibule between our foyer and living room. Wait till you see all the plans I have installed for this brick! |
Your brick work is beautiful! It adds so much architectural interest to a home. Years ago, I did a kitchen back splash with "Thin Set" brick and mortar. It is a little hard on the hands working with brick, but so rewarding.
ReplyDeleteIt is so rewarding Bev. Thank you for visiting and I hope that you have a wonderful week!
