French Farmhouse Entertainment Console-Decisions Decisions

Hope that everyone enjoyed their Mother's Day. We didn't do much of anything except stick around the house and that was fine with me. I did a little piddling around in the dining room but I will share more about that later. Today I am talking about entertainment consoles.

This is a pic from our previous home. Our entertainment armoire had it's very own niche and it sat back from the actual living space. The armoire was the perfect piece for that space. Knowing that in the new house we would not have an entertainment niche we left the t.v. armoire with our last home. It would have taken up way too much space in our new living room.

Here at the new house we have been using the sideboard from Mr. Front Porch's last office for our entertainment console. Though it serves its purpose it is not what I want to stay there. Problem is is that I can only have a piece that is no more than 62 inches long otherwise we will not have space for our Christmas tree. I have been hunting for months for  the perfect piece to go here.

I really like this console because the gray would flow nicely with the rest of our decor. It certainly has a farmhouse feel to it with the chicken wire. I am afraid though it may not be dressy enough. It did go down in price though since I have been watching it and that makes it all the more  appealing.

Next up is this rustic sideboard which has something similar to chicken wire but not as primitive. It is a tad dark and I would probably have to paint portions of it for it to look like I have envisioned. I love the x styled doors!

Then there is this beauty! It has the two tone which I love as well as the x pattern doors. It has farmhouse charm but dressed up.

Next up is this gem. It is gray which is a plus and it has the x styled doors I love so another check. I really want a two toned piece so we could easily add some stained wood planks to the top.

Then there is this beauty! I fell in love with it back in March at a local home decor store. The price was up there and I normally would not even consider spending that much on one piece but this piece has it all. The two tone. The french farmhouse feel and the size. I went back to the shop in April when my mama was out visiting and it was still sitting there. I told Mr. Front Porch about it and he finally gave in a few weeks later and said that we could share the cost of the piece if I truly wanted it. Well you can imagine my excitement as we drove to the shop to buy it. If only it were that simple! No joke the piece had literally sold just before we arrived and so there it sat taunting  me with a big ol SOLD tag on it.
Now the dilemma is what I should do? All the other sideboards are online and not local. Most have free shipping but not all. The two toned off white one is almost as much as this piece and I think it may be too long. So then that takes us back to this piece. Yes, I know this piece sold but I was told they could order me one. It would take two months or longer for it to come in. Sigh.... so do I have them order one or do I make do with one of the others and save half the cost of this piece and put the savings towards other projects in the house which ya know is the route I normally would take? What piece would you choose?

  1. Your favorite one online is almost the cost of the one local that you really want. I say order it!

  3. Order the one you really want. You will be happy with it for a very long time and it's worth the extra money if you really love it!

  4. Oh I would order this gorgeous two toned one that you really like and wait for it. You will have it for along time, so go for it.

  5. Buy local. Helps the small business owner and you get what you want. No regrets.

  6. Order and wait for the one that got away! Good things come to those who wait. You will be tinkering with every other piece, painting, distressing, etc. if you don't get this one you wanted originally.

  9. If you love it, order it. We had to wait 12 long weeks for our bedroom set and I was sick to my stomach!! I think its great. For me it's a toss up between the one you love and the one with the chicken wire...although that may be too 'country' for my decor.

    Good luck, Pamela.

  11. I would also order and wait for the one that got away! It made you're heart sing, had everything you loved. Spend more on it rather than get one of the others that you liked, but might always think about the one that got away.

  12. No question at all...ORDER the one you really want..It is beautiful, and I thought the others were also, UNTIL the picture of this beauty appeared. Get what you want, because later you'll be unhappy that you didn't, and will probably end up buying this one anyway...Don't ask how I know this...but it happens...This is sure to make a statement in your lovely home!!!

  13. Once your heart falls in love with a piece, you'll never be happy with another. You will feel like you settled. Regret is a terrible emotion to live with. Order the one you really want. You won't regret it!

  14. My vote is get what you really want, buy local whenever you are able to support small business, and know there is a reason it sold - it's awesome.

I like them all but the dark piece is my least fav unless painted.

  15. Love, love, love that last one. I would order and wait for it. You'll spend more time hunting for another one you love and it probably won't be as pretty. You'll forget how much it cost afterwards.

  16. If you're going to have to order then I suggest checking Etsy. It's worth a shot. (I know I'm late to the replying party. :) )
