I can not believe that it is May already! What is even harder to believe is that we have been in our new home for 6 months. We have been busy turning our new house into our home which involves a lot of DIY projects. One of those DIY projects involves our garage.
The builder had added the handles to the garage doors and then I ordered the rest of the carriage house hardware from Ebay. I did this at our last home as well. It was a very inexpensive upgrade that in itself added more appeal. I knew I wanted to take it further though because I can never leave things well enough alone.LOL. |
Such a dramatic difference! |
This project I feel added to the curb appeal of our home ten fold! |
We plan on installing V-Groove on the porch ceiling and painting the ceilings the same color as the garage doors. Until then I installed some farmhouse lighting from the garage to the backdoor. |
And here it is as promised! This is what the two story garage is all about. Instead of storing all my home decor all thru out the house it all will be going up here. It is still a major work in progress. My mom helped me work on it some while she was out a few weeks back. Thanks Mama! Though it provides a lot of storage it gets so HOT up here which means eventually we will be installing some type of AC system to keep things cooled down. Even further down the road we will be adding dry wall and flooring. Sharing at these wonderful blogs: Savvy Southern Style French Country Cottage Between Naps On The Porch |
Wow, Pamela, it looks so good. You did a great job and poopy to that builder!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim. Pretty much poopy to the builder on so many levels but we are here and we are blessed so that is all that matters.
DeleteWow!! I love the garage doors the way you spiffed them up! I bet you are stopping traffic with your neighbors. Love the wrought iron gate too. That area upstairs is to die for! Yes, you have to have an ac or at the very least you'll have to go up there at 6am this summer.
ReplyDeleteI was looking back at the Sea Salt in your last house today. They are painting the interior of our house right now and I'm having last minute wishes and desires but decided it's best not to make hasty paint decisions. :)
We sit at the entrance to our section so I feel like it is our responsibility to welcome everyone. On of my neighbors told me that our porch always makes her smile so that makes it all worth while! Love watching the house come together and love the color you chose for your island! I am envious that you are building a TRUE custom home. Our next home way down the road will be a true custom.
DeleteThis looks amazing. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Marty! Oh my your pool is coming right along!! You will enjoy it so much.
DeleteWonderful. Chadd would love an detached garage. He might never come back in. A beer fridge and a tv... for the boys. I love you have all the storage. I am a bit envious~ xxx....
ReplyDeleteThank you Brooke. Hubby said he had to have it if I wanted him to help with my never ending project list!;)
DeleteYou garage door turned out fabulous! Now I'm thinking I need a new storage space like yours! Love it!
ReplyDelete~Tami @ Curb Alert!
Thanks Tami! Well you certainly have the space for one I do believe. Have that wonderful hubby of your build ya a work space.
DeleteLove those doors Pamela! Great job and yes, sometimes you have to learn to pick your battles....you are truly enhancing your new home so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThank you smooch Shirley. I hope that you have a great weekend my friend.
DeletePamela,
ReplyDeleteYour garage doors went from pretty to spectacular! Good job. My garage is also a two story. For years the 2nd floor was a wood-working shop, but now is mainly for storage. Since my house does not have an attic (a post and beam house that is open like a barn), we really need the 2nd story storage over the garage.
Judith
Judith our home does not really have any attic space either so it was pretty much a must have. All of the mechanicals of the house are all over the "attic" area so we only have enough room for a few boxes.
DeleteYou'll have all the gals on here envious of your storage area, who couldn't use that kind of storage for decorative items not being used at the time?
ReplyDeleteYour garage doors turned out so gorgeous, will be envy of your neighbors, fooey on builder, bet you did much better job than they did on other garage doors. Your home sure looks wonderful, enjoy it all you can.
Have great rest of week.
Thank you so much for visiting and your kind words. I hope that you have a great weekend!
DeleteVery nice, Pamela, and the cross panels make it really stand out. Love the color, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
Jane
Thanks Jane!
DeleteYour updates look great! Can't believe that builder would not do that.
ReplyDeleteThank you Penny. It was fine because we did not like the paint job they did anyways inside or out. Love watching your home coming together!
DeletePerfectly delightful!!
ReplyDeleteI think a pergola and window boxes would be perfect!! That would show off the fact you have two stories on that garage...of which I am a bit jealous .....I'd love to have a place to store "stuff".....

ReplyDeleteThank you Lindsay. Hope you have a great weekend.
DeleteIt looks fabulous, Pamela and you are right about picking your battles. That's true with kids and hubbys too sometimes. LOL!
ReplyDeleteLO yes that is so true Pinky! Thanks for your sweet comments and visiting.
DeleteWOW! What a difference! It really adds a 'rich' feeling to the garage. I love it! The inside is wonderful, too. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThanks Diana. It truly is hubby's dream. We did not think we would be able to get such a garage in a subdivision.
Deleteyou did a sensational job! I remember my husband telling me that his parents lived over a garage when they were first married...around 1941. I have been in a garage attic and I thought it was a fabulous space. Enjoy every inch.
ReplyDeleteThank you Juanita. Some of the homes here have actual apartments in theirs but that is not our plan. If anything a mom cave one day. Thank you for visiting and have a great weekend!
DeleteIt turned out great. We are currently looking for a new garage door and this really gives me some good ideas!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanne and happy garage door hunting.
DeleteIf I had that big space for just my bits and pieces I could be so organized!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how a little paint can make all the difference. Your garage doors look fantastic! I love all that fresh white accented by that pretty blue. I'm envious of your garage storage space too- I'd love to have that much storage space.
ReplyDeleteThat little bit of paint makes a huge difference. SO Pretty!
