Farmhouse Living Room With Ektorp Sofa

With the house being for sale I have been snapping pics right and left to share with you all.

One of my favorite spaces in our home and the heart of our home is the living room. It is such a warm and inviting space not to mention comfy.

The comfy factor did not come into play until this past February when we purchased a new sofa. Though the previous sofa was nice and stylish it just was not a comfy sofa for us and limited our seating. We really needed more seating in this space. The Ektorp sectional was the perfect choice! We have enjoyed this sofa for several months now and have no regrets. It was economical and fits our lifestyle perfectly and when needed I can just throw the slip cover in the wash. So far it has not needed to be washed even with our little Savannah. I just take a lint roller to it from time to time and it is good to go. I think the Ektorp actually makes our living room feel more spacious as well.

Now instead of seating just 5 people in the space we can seat 7 which is a huge plus when the grandparents are in town.

The only regret I have is that we didn't purchase this sofa earlier.

Do I think it will last for the next 15 years, of course not but it works for our family now and was in my budget. Eventually I would love to purchase a Pottery Barn down filled sectional but that is almost $4,000. Not in this mama's budget.

    I just got a new Ektrop chair and love it. They redesigned their furniture pieces to be a little more sturdy and comfy. Your room is gorgeous. Good luck with the sale of your home.

    Your post is so timely, Pamela, because I just recently bought an Ektorp myself! We're loving it so far, and as you pointed out it's such an economical solution for many. I would have loved to have bought the sectional like you did, but our layout won't accommodate one (long, skinny living room). We bought the slipcover in the dark taupe color because of our dog, but I'm looking forward to getting a white one for summer. Love your trunk coffee table and checked curtains!

    Your family room is lovely and love the sofa. I have looked at those online and would love one but
    most of them have down in them somewhere and I am very allergic to bird feathers or else we would
    probably have one in our family room too. lol

    Just gorgeous!
    We've had our Ektorp pieces for three years now and the covers and pillows and frames are just as nice as when we bought them. Take cake of them, flip the cushions, and vacuum, and we may be surprised how well they hold up!

      Hey Leslie! I am making sure to swap the cushions around so they ware evenly. It has been the best couch thus far! We have been on the market for officially two weeks now.

      Hi Cindy! Thanx. The curtains are actually fabric from Ikea. You can order it online if you do not have an Ikea near by.
