How I Found My Style Sundays- Christmas Edition- The Comforts of Home

Christmas Edition- How I Found my Style Sundays- From My Front Porch To Yours
I was thrilled when Pamela asked me to participate in a special holiday edition of "How I Found My Style Sundays". This time we are focusing on our holiday style.

Pamela asked me to answer 4 questions.
What is my Christmas decorating style?
My Christmas decorating style is pretty mid west traditional with a little French Country thrown in. I grew up on a lake in Michigan. We usually had snow at Christmas time and the lake was frozen over. So sleds and ice skates were strewn around and blended right into the Christmas decorations.
Today I use vintage ice skates in my holiday decorations. I would love to use a sled outside by the front door, but then I would have to find a place to store it the rest of the year, lol.

How Did I Find My Decorating Style?

My style just developed over time. When my children were growing up, we had a lot of homemade ornaments on the tree along with colored lights and tinsel. We also used to have a lighted star on top.

Now my tree is filled with glass blown ornaments, white lights and a vintage finial tree topper.

I like to use as much natural greenery as I can. We always have a real tree and garland. I use clippings from the pine trees in my yard to make wreaths. I also use dried hydrangeas.

The French Country part of my traditional decorating comes from the red toile stockings, burlap, rooster ornaments, leopard print ornaments etc.

What Is My Most Cherished Christmas Decoration?

My most cherished Christmas Decoration is actually my tree skirt.  My mom quilted it and I will always cherish it.

What Decorating Tips Do I Have For Creating A Beautiful Stress Free Holiday Season?

I have let go a lot of old traditions that just were not fun anymore.  I decorate simply.  I don't get all caught up in the newest decorating craze.   I make a point to sit every evening with just the tree lights, candles and fireplace going and enjoy the meaning of the holiday season.
