I am honored that Pamela would ask me about my decorating style and let me show you my home.
I live in a 100+year old Farm/Ranch house by the beach in California with my daughter, husband and labrador Hudson.
My decorating style is?
I would describe my decorating style as Vintage Coastal Farm.
Painting of my hometown by a local artist |
Since my home is an old farm house and I grew up on a ranch/farm I gravitate towards rustic elements as well.
I also like almost anything that is rusty, crusty and old.
I think like most people my style has evolved over time, but I have always been into vintage things . In high school I wore my grandmothers old dresses and loved to shop at thrift stores for vintage clothes and linens. Growing up on a ranch also made me resourceful and I l like to repurpose things. Many of the things around my house were found on junkin excursions and I have transformed them or gave them a new purpose.

Box made from old barn wood |
My most treasured find of the moment is my new grain sack chair--I absolutely love it!
What tips do you have for creating a beautiful home?
For me I always have fresh flowers around my house. Flowers are like breath to me and my house feels sad without them.
I think a person should place things in their home that make them feel peaceful, calm and happy. I like to mix styles and I think if you love something you should figure out how to use it in your decorating.
