French Farmhouse Dining Room Reveal

From My Front Porch To Yours- French Farmhouse Dining Room Reveal
Our dining room has always been one of my favorite rooms in our home. With that said I still found myself constantly tweaking it.

This is our dining room back in late spring.

The major changes involved the walls. The walls use to be painted SW 6127 Ivoire and there was no wainscoting.

The walls have been freshened up with SW 7526 Maison Blanche and custom wainscoting added.

You can read more about the custom Crossbuck wainscoting here. It really adds so much to the space for very little money.

For me no room is complete without adding some family mementos. This is a picture of my Great Great grandfather and his family. The young lady behind my Great Great Grandfather who is sitting in the front row, is my Poppy's mother. I think my mom and I look alot like her.

I have always loved the three skinny windows in here.

I changed up my beloved toile rooster curtains to less ornate striped panels. No worries though, the rooster panels are tucked safely away in the closet.

I also added some lace panels to each window. They add a touch of romantic charm. It was very hard to get a good picture from all the light coming in from the windows.

The updated seating adds to the french farmhouse theme you can see thru out our home.

Custom bench I built using a Kregjig and Anna White plans. You can read more about it here. I went with the Fancy X Farm bench because the X corresponds with the Crossbuck wainscoting. The boys are the ones who sit on the bench seating so a bench with no back makes more sense right now. It will be much easier for them to get in and out.

  1. Nice, dramatic change with primarily paint! Love the wainscoting and new curtain panels too. You've gone from farmhouse to classic with just those few changes. Very nice! And yes, I agree, you do favor your Poppy's mother - so nice to have those family photos!
