I'm Cindy and I blog over at Beaux R'eves,
which in French means Sweet Dreams!
I will have to admit it's a dream
to be here sharing my style with all of you on Pamela's beautiful blog today!
but I am a California girl born and raised.
I have lived in many different places as
my husband was transferred for his job quite a bit.
I am an interior designer but I was kind of a late bloomer,
going back to school for design after my kids were born.
I feel that being exposed to different styles of design
while we were moving around really peaked my interest
and my desire to be a designer.
Of course, fixing up your house for sale so many times
also led me to be a Home Stager for Realtors,
because I love it so much!
I love Country French Decorating
and I drool over books by Betty Lou Phillips, Charles Faudree
but I am also partial to my local famous designer
Mary Carol Garrity the owner of Nell Hill's.
I adore how she mixes new pieces with antiques to create
a comfortable unique look.
Here in my entry I have used Estate Sale
finds with modern elements like the letters to spin my own design.
We built this home in 2002 when we were transferred here.
I would say it was a classic "Old World" look that we were aiming for at the time.
We have travertine floors in the entry, dining and living rooms
and a stone faux look in the dining room.
My style is evolving all the time and my home reflects that.
I have spent most of this year doing what I call "Lightening Up" around my home.
I pulled up dark rugs, painted walls, and paired down furniture to create a more airy feel.
I love this new seagrass rug for the Living Room.
It's been small touches like this that have made all the difference.
One area that has undergone a total transformation this year is my Master Bedroom.
We put in new hardwood floors, painted the walls, painted furniture,
added a new headboard, new bedding, new drapes that I sewed, etc...
I keep the costs down on my decorating projects by doing a lot of the work myself and haunting Estate Sales on a regular basis. In the Master bedroom these items all came from Estate Sales: The two chairs, the lamps (all three), the plates on the wall, most of the accessories, the curtain rods, and the watercolor prints.
If you read my blog you will see that I am always finding
the most perfect things at Estate Sales.
I feel lucky that they are so plentiful around my area.
My BFF and I have the BEST time on Saturdays when we go "hunting".
Even if we come up short we are always intrigued
by the old homes that we visit on our excursions.
You'll see a lot of my treasures in my Hearth Room.
I love collecting ironstone, copper, silver, and painted tole platters.
but instead I love to display them in interesting ways.
You never know where my vintage finds are going to show up!
I recently did a mini make over in the guest room.
I love being able to show my girlie side in this room with lots of ruffles,
flowers and tea cups.
And speaking of Flowers!
Another one of my passions is having fresh flowers around whenever I get a chance.
Right now I am enjoying my Hydrangeas
but I love to have fresh flowers all thru the year.
Many thanks Pamela for inviting me over today to share
some of my style with your readers.
I'd love for you all to drop by some time!
You can find me here Beaux R'eves.

Love Cindy and her fabulous style. She always creates the prettiest rooms.
ReplyDeleteCindy has such a beautiful home it is hard to say which room is my favorite. I do love her hearth room, but her bedroom makeover came out really good, too. I am always trying to tweak my own master bedroom, so I enjoy seeing her ideas. I am at a point in my life where I like to keep my things out and on display, too. If I have to store them or keep them put away much of the time, I wind up getting rid of things.
ReplyDeleteWonderful featured guests. What a lovely home!
