Custom Pieces For Friends

This past month I have had the opportunity to makeover a few pieces for some friends in my neighborhood.
This t.v. cabinet is my friend Ellies'. She is such a fun and vibrant person! Ellie is in the middle of making over her entire home and I was so honored that she asked me to assist her.
This pillow was her inspiration for color.
After looking thru many blues we finally decided on Napoleonic Blue.
It turned out just perfect!
This piece belongs to my friend Alaina. Her mom gave it to her back in the fall. It originally had fabric all on the inside but Alaina and her husband ripped it all out and left the painting to me.
This is not the best picture of it but at the time we were in the middle of being sick at my house. I hope one day soon I can go back over and get a pic of it in Alaina's beautiful home.
I used a combination of colors to achieve this washed look.

Thanx ladies for allowing me to help you with your pieces! I am truly honored.

See y'all back here tomorrow for "How I Found My Style Sundays".

A Little Bit Of Easter

I have not really put out any Easter decor just yet. I know time is ticking away but I am hemming and hawing over paint colors. I want to paint the living room and kitchen so I do not want to decorate and then have to take it all back down to only put it right back up.
With that being said I went over to visit my friend Brenda today and took some pics of her Easter decor to share. She usually goes all out but since she is moving and her house is now for sale...sniffle,sniffle,sniffle, pass a hanker chief please, sniffle...she only had a few things out. As you know when selling less is more.
Her beautiful spring mantle.
This giant chocolate bunny is actually a blow mold! She added the pretty little bow and flower.
Brenda makes the most beautiful embellished eggs. This is just one of them.

I just love all of her bunnies. She has a bin full of chicks she has not put out. I can only imagine the display she creates with those.
I am truly going to miss Brenda when she moves away but know it is the best for her and her family. It just means a road trip once she gets settled into her new home!;)

Before I go I figured y'all might also like to see some beautiful Santos I saw this past week while out shopping at the local antique mall.
This lady takes Santos to a higher level by embellishing them with all types of things from vintage lace to crowns and even angel wings.
This one was my absolute favorite and I wish I could have afforded her but oh well. I am sure somebody will give her a good home soon enough.

Off to spend some time with my men. They are ALL off for Spring Break next week. I may need a vacation after that!;)

Ottoman Reveal

I mentioned earlier in the week about the Build Your Own Ottoman Class at Metamorphosis Studios  that I attended a few weeks back. After a sick kiddo and myself being sick I was finally able today to go back and finish mine up!
The class was for building a basic ottoman but since we ran out of time Jenn agreed to allow me to design a more personalized ottoman.
This is the fabric that I used. I had purchased it last year some time just because I liked it. This was the perfect project for it!
I covered up the blue circle in the fabric because I wanted the ottoman to be more neutral and was afraid the blue would limit me. I teamed up with Cathie who is Metamorphosis Studios In House Embroider and we came up with this letter 'F'. It is our last name initial. She did a fabulous job!
I love the nail head trim all the way around and the added jute webbing.
These little wooden legs I custom painted make me smile too! They turned out to be just perfect for the ottoman.
I really enjoyed making this with Jennifer. She is a fabulous instructor. I wish I could say that I can now make an ottoman on my own but it is a TON of work and a killer on my hands so I will just leave the ottoman building to the pro! I did though gain some great tips that will make my own smaller projects a lot easier.

Thanx Jennifer for such a fun experience! Also thanx to Cathie for working with me on my 'F'! I know I can be rather picky and she was super sweet to put up with me.

Treasure Hunt Thursday #97 & Highlights

Welcome to THT #97! I hope that everybody is having a great week so far and that everybody on the East coast is staying nice and warm. I must say that last weeks party just floored me. We had the most link ups ever topping out at 135! What a fun party this is and it is all because of you guys. I just love watching it grow! Speaking of you guys, be sure to stop by and see who had the most viewed links from last weeks party if you have not already and vote on the THT Party Button.

Now on to my personal picks from last weeks party. It was so hard choosing because there were so many fabulous link ups!
Denise over at Pink Postcard shared this beautiful secretary she made over with MMS Milk Paint and spray paint!
Judy over at DIY by Design shared her basement makeover!
Mary Alice over at Chateau-Chic shared her fabulous buffet!
Meredith from over at The Laundry Can Wait shared her beautiful kitchen.
Last but not least Sarah over at Simply Linen shared how she made over this wing back chair.
If you have been featured please feel free to grab the "I have been featured" button to proudly display on your sidebar!:)

Now on to this weeks party!
What would be a HUGE help and encourage more comments not just from me but others as well would be for everybody to take off their required verification codes for leaving a comment. This seems to take just a few seconds of time but when you have to do it on 30 or more blogs it takes up a TON of time. Last week most everybody had turned off their Word Verification which made it so much easier for me to stop by everybody's links! Thank you!

READ THE RULES PLEASE!:)
Now on to this weeks party!
As with all parties there are the normal rules. You must link back to From My Front Porch To Yours in your THT POST. Just common courtesy. If ya don't link back ya don't get to party. Only link up to your Treasure Hunt Thursday post and NOT your blog homepage. Please No advertising and PLEASE NO MORE than 3 links from the SAME party goer. Also NO MORE linking up to your own link parties. I am seeing more and more link ups of just people promoting their own linky parties. I know it takes time to go back and make a separate post to join the party but it is just the polite thing to do. If you find your post deleted it is not because I am a meany, I just have to make sure the rules are being followed. You can save some of your posts for the following weeks party! Please only link up new posts and not posts that you linked up the week before.
Also be sure to visit at least the link before you and after you to just say Hi! It makes partying all the more fun and remember if your link has had the most visits you will get featured on Tuesdays! If you are new around here I would love it if ya become a follower!:)

Are you ready for the most viewed links from last weeks Treasure Hunt Thursday?
1. Gwen Moss- Beautiful Kitchen
2. Market Nine Home- Rotating Accessories

3. Looks Like White- Shared beach Home
Thank you ladies for coming to the party!

While I have everybody here I am taking a poll. This is y'alls party so I thought that I would get your input on a possible update. Over the past few weeks I have been making a few new buttons with thoughts of possibly using a new button for Treasure Hunt Thursday.

Option A
This is the original button that we all know and recognize.
Option B
This is a beautiful bird graphic that I found over on The Graphics Fairy site. I liked it because birds are always hunting and gathering for their nests.
Option C
Then there is this one which matches the rest of my blog buttons.

So which button do you prefer? Which ever one gets the most votes wins! I will post the winner during next weeks Most Viewed Links!:)

Just leave me your vote in the comments section.
Hope everybody is having a great week!

Ottoman Class with Metamorphosis Studio

A few years back when I was helping out at The Old Oak Cottage I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer of Metamorphosis Designs Studios. At the time she rented a space at the cottage and so we became good friends. Jennifer is beyond talented and I always enjoyed watching her work on her projects.
Some of her recent creations are fabulous handmade ottomans.
I am not talking just your average everyday ottomans but fabulous one of a kind creations.
You may recognize Jennifer yourself from over at Miss Mustard Seed's blog. Marian featured one of Jenn's fabulous Union Jack ottomans not too long ago.

Since the cottage days Jenn has moved on to her own space. Besides offering up her one of a kind creations she now also teaches classes on how to upholster a chair, to even making your own ottoman from scratch. The other weekend I was able to leave my men for the day and attend  her ottoman class.
Come on along and get a glimpse of my day!
The Hubster was very worried about this part. He made me promise not to cut off a finger or hand. Luckily for him Jenn said we were not allowed to operate the heavy duty power tools due to liability but she explained to us the process and showed us what to do.
The class was perfect for beginners who had never been around a power tool.
Jenn explained everything step by step and even shared little tips like how to mark your drill bit with a piece of painters tape so you do not drill too far in.
There were three of us attending the class. This is Ella and she was from Atlanta, Ga! Ella was in Austin for work and so she drove all the way to Houston to take Jenn's class before flying back home the same day.
This is Nancy and she lives in Southwest Houston but drove the hour up to take the class. She has two little boys too. It was so much fun meeting the ladies!
We were introduce to all kinds of helpful tools like this one for pulling your webbing tight. I need to get one of these. It made life so much easier on my hands.
Even though we were not allowed to use the saw we were allowed to use the staple gun and other high tech tools like a turkey carver. Yes I said turkey carver!;) It works perfectly for cutting foam.
Jenn was super thorough showing us exactly what to do. Here she is showing us how to achieve the perfect corner with our fabric.
This is Ella's ottoman. It was the first one to be completed because we sorda talked a lot during the class and ran behind schedule. Ella had a flight to catch. I love the Ikat fabric she brought to make her ottoman.
I think we all had a lot of fun during this class.
Ella had to take her ottoman home as a carry on so Jenn made a make shift tote for it. Found out during class that Ella actually has two spaces at The Queen Of Hearts in Alpharetta. I am trying to get her booth name so if you are in the area you can stop by and shop. I am gathering her spaces are top notch! When we are home in the summer I hope to be able to stop by myself.
After completing your ottoman Jenn has you sign it and date it.
Such a fun reminder of the day!
I loved the bright and cheery fabric Nancy brought for her ottoman! Just looking at it you can't help but smile. Nancy had her son's award banquet to get to so she completed her ottoman next.

Since we ran over on time I was not able to complete mine but I was alright with that. Jen had been so gracious to allow me to take pics and I knew the other ladies had places to be at a certain time. I just live down the road from Jennifer's studio so we agreed I could just come back and finish mine since it was so late and my men were waiting and wanting dinner.
I was able to get my feet done though. A custom finish with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint which Jenn now carries.
Since I was having to come back I asked Jenn if it was ok to pay extra to jazz my ottoman up a little bit. The class was just for making a basic ottoman. She agreed so I contacted her in-house embroider Cathie who is making me something special to go on mine.
Here is where I am at on my ottoman. Stay tuned because  this week I am going to be finishing up my ottoman and I can't wait to share it with y'all!

If you are or will be in the Houston area I highly suggest you check Jenn's class schedule and see if you can work one in. You will be so glad you did!
