Treasure Hunt Thursday #47 & Highlights

Welcome to THT # 47 & Highlights! So glad you stopped by. If ya have a treasure from this past week whether it be something ya bought, something ya found, or even a project you did please link up and party with us! Before I get to Highlights I wanted to say I appreciate each and every one of ya for stopping by and partying with me! I always stop by for a visit for each party goer but I do not always have time to leave a comment. I tried to leave comments this past week and ran into so many blogs that still have their Comment Word Verification turned on. PLEASE turn this off! I noticed that now you have to enter not one but TWO words in the process and it takes twice as long. You more than likely will find once you turn it off you will receive many more comments on your posts! I will be honest I do not leave comments any more on posts that require me to work to leave kind words. So please please turn it off y'all it will make partying all the more fun!

Now on to highlights from last weeks party!

I just loved Gail's stair landing display over at Gail's Decorative Touch! I have a stair landing as well and her display truly inspired me!
Audrey over at Elegant Economies drew me in with her beautiful spring buffet display!

Cindy over at Beaux R'eves shared a tutorial on how to create some fabulous ruffled curtains!

As always thank you to all who partied last week!If you were featured please feel free to grab the "I've Been Featured" button!:) Though I was unable to leave a comment on every persons blog please know that I did stop by and visit!! I appreciate everybody taking the time to come over every week! What would be a HUGE help and encourage more comments not just from me but others as well would be for everybody to take off their required verification codes for leaving a comment. This seems to take just a few seconds of time but when you have to do it on 30 or more blogs it takes up a TON of time.

Now on to this weeks party!
As with all parties there are the normal rules. You must link back to From My Front Porch To Yours in your THT POST. Just common courtesy. If ya don't link back ya don't get to party. Only link up to your Treasure Hunt Thursday post and NOT your blog homepage. Please No advertising and PLEASE NO MORE than 3 links from the SAME party goer. If you find your post deleted it is not because I am a meany, I just have to make sure the rules are being followed. You can save some of your posts for the following weeks party! Please only link up new posts and not posts that you linked up the week before. Also be sure to visit at least the link before you and after you to just say Hi! It makes partying all the more fun! If you are new around here I would love it if ya become a follower!:)

Home Office

Hope everybody's Tuesday is going well! Still sending prayers for those who were effected by the terrible storms last week. We have bad weather heading in on Thursday and they are predicting almost an entire week of rain for us in South East Tx. The yards have just now started drying out from the last rains we had but I guess after last years drought we can not complain.

Today I am going to share a room in our house that I have not shared in quite some time. I know I have not shared it since we redid the floors last spring.
Welcome to our home office. This is the view you see when you walk in the front door.

This is the view when you look to the left. How many of you guessed this was the room the frenchy chairs ended up in? Probably only few who have been following me awhile would have known.

My assistant is gauging the lighting and making sure I don't forget a shot!;) If you want to see the Before of this room you clan click HERE. That post will even show you how I transformed these $50 bookcases!

Speaking of the book cases I finally got around to staging them. Shelves and me just don't mix. I have the hardest time figuring them out. I guess I just need to think of them as our fireplace mantle. I never have issues with that.

Can you guess where The Hubster went to school!?;) I had to promise to work these in the room somehow. He was not so keen on me designing his office since it was his but I promised him that I could make it flow with the rest of the house but still make it masculine and have his stuff in it.

This piece I painted back in the fall when it was still scorching hot outside. Pardon all the wires. Just keeping it real. I am still trying to hunt down some baskets that will fit as storage and that will help solve the wire situation as well.
The Hubster has had this lamp since he was little. The Papa made it for him and yes it actually works! The boys just love it and want one in their room but sorry guys this is one thing your daddy won't be giving up.

Here is one of my dumpster diving treasures. A neighbor had actually thrown it away awhile back and I saw it on the way home after dropping the boys off at school. It was just sitting there next to the trash can. I was not sure it worked but I grabbed it anyways.  I had not put a battery in it until I started snapping these pics and sure enough it still works! It amazes me what people will throw away sometimes.

The chairs are right at home in here and thus I am now not in any rush to change out the fabric on them though I do wish they were lighter.

Curtain tiebacks came from HobLob several years ago. I think I actually purchased them when we were still living in Baton Rouge so probably more than a few years ago. I lucked up and found the curtain panels at Tuesday Morning. They are actually what started the whole office transformation.

I love the three little windows here.

And of course I could not have a room without something from HomeGoods in it!;) As soon as I saw this wall piece it had to come home with me. The letter F was actually an E. For some reason Kirklands does not carry many items with the initial F for some reason so I had to make due.

So there is our home office and believe it or not it all came together for less than $500 if you do not count the new addition of the frenchy chairs and yes, I know those chairs are actually called Louis XV Chairs but I just like saying frenchy!;) Thanx for stopping by! Oh and if you wanna learn more about the paint treatment I used on the walls yo can click HERE.

Frenchy Chair Loving

Those of you who have been following me for awhile now know that I just love anything French/French Country. I am on a mission to make our home into a french chateau on a SAHM budget.
I have been dreaming of bringing home some frenchy chairs like these. I just have not ever been able to come to terms with the prices everybody was wanting for these fabulous pieces.

Every time I see one my heart goes pitter pat. This particular chair was $399! I LOVED the toile fabric on it.

I was on a mission and have been to look at several frenchy chairs that have been on the local yard sale site but they all have been really little like this one. A true antique but I was wanting functional ones not just pretty ones.
Well a few weeks back I went to look at something I saw again on the local yard sale site. While I was there I also saw something I just HAD to have.

I actually had caught a glimpse of it in the background of the picture of the item I was going to pick up. The lady was moving across country and was selling pretty much everything.

She told me she was not parting with these beautiful chairs. Well I went back to see her the next day to decide on whether I wanted a few of her decorative items.

Well Ms. Cathy was a sweetie and agreed to sell me not one but BOTH of her fabulous chairs!! I was giddy to say the least. As I counted out the last of my rainy day stash I told her it pained me to give it all to her. She laughed and said well then we were even cause it pained her to be selling um!;) Ms. Cathy was such a delight to chat with. I plan on changing out the dark suede fabric eventually. I just have to find that must have fabric. Come back tomorrow to see where they ended up in our home.

Before I go thank you to everybody for your sweet sweet comments on the little hallway into our guest bedroom! You make me smile!;) I appreciate the loving!

All Because Of A Sign

I purchased this adorable sign a few weeks back at HomeGoods. I knew as soon as I saw it it was meant to come home with me! I had the perfect spot that was in desperate need of a makeover.

Let me take you back to the very beginning. This is a picture of the little hallway from our kitchen into the guest bedroom. This pic was taken before we purchased our home. We had them take the carpet out and match the tile. The carpet didn't make sense to us especially seeing as to right of the little hallway is a door to the garage.

A few months went by after we moved in and I had finally decided on a paint color for the house and Then I decided I had to get rid of the builder grade half moon light fixture. Sorry for bad pic but this was as good as it got back then!;) I ended up choosing this outdoor light fixture because I wanted to give the space some character. Something unexpected.

Then I decided to hang a rooster picture under the light fixture and this is how it stayed till I brought home  the new Guest Cottage sign. I knew I couldn't just put a sign on the wall and call it a day.

So I brought out this shabby old table I have had that has seen better days but is just oh so cute. I need to figure out how to fix that crack but for now it will just get a makeover.

I busted out my CeCe Caldwell & Annie Sloan paints and just dry brushed three different colors on till I got the look I was going for. Then I wiped it down with a damp paper towel.

The top I took the sander to.

Next up I brought out my Ballard Designs Script indoor outdoor rug I purchased back in December. I was rather disappointed with it when it came because it was nothing like the picture on their website nor their catalog. The print had been scaled way down. Since then they have added a picture of what all three sizes of the rug look like and in the end they let me keep this one for FREE! I figured this would be the perfect spot to use it. Thanx Ballard!

Next up I hunted high and low for some flowers and let me tell ya hydrangeas are not cheap! Even at WM they were $9 a stem so I was thrilled when I went into HobLob the other day and saw this arrangement for half off. For $15 I could not even come close to being able to make something similar so home it came.

It fit perfectly in my vintage silver pitcher. The little bunnies I purchased out at the cottage a few days back. They had just come in and were too stinking cute to leave behind.

I pulled out my grapevine wreath for the final touch.
So now when you come and stay at The Finch Inn you will be greeted with a welcoming entrance all because of a sign! And in case you are wondering mom, yes you can still easily walk thru the space!;)
