Thrift Store Shopping with $40

Thrift Store Finds- From My Front Porch To Yours
Last week I had to run up to the Post Office and while I was there I decided to pop into one of our local thrifts stores that is next door. I rarely ever visit the thrift stores around here because they have gotten very pricey. More often than not I can actually find better deals at the antique shops but figured since I was right there why not. I had $40 and wanted to see what I could get with it if anything.

Red Transferware-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
I found this red transferware dinner plate for $1. It is made by Royal Ironstone pattern Memory Lane from 1965. This piece got me to digging thru the china section.
Brown Transferware-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
While digging I ended up finding this brown transferware dessert plate by Johnson Bros pattern Olde English Countryside. It was $2.

Vintage Pyrex-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
I also came across this vintage Pyrex dish. I am a sucker for green and had been wanting to start collecting vintage Pyrex so I figured for $8.50 why not. A lot of the vintage Pyrex goes for $$ over on Ebay. I would really love to find blue and pink.
Ornate Gold Frame-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
On the way to check out I spotted this piece for $8. I bought it just for the frame.

Since I had pretty decent luck at the one thrift store I decided to take my chances on visiting our Goodwill. Off to Goodwill I went with $20 left of my $40.
Vintage Blue Mason Jar-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
.75 vintage blue Mason Jar. It did not have a lid but I can easily find one.
Baskets-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
Two sets of 4 bowl baskets each .99 cents and then an additional 30% off that day. Not sure what I will use them for but figured they would come in handy with tablescapes in the fall.
Christmas Village Church-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
I spotted this darling church for $1.99. It was part of a village and missing its light cord. I originally was going to paint it but it may stay just as it is.
Crewel Framed Winter Artwork-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
My grand find was this vintage winterscape artwork! It was 19.99 with an additional 30% off. As soon as I spotted it I knew it was my crown jewel for the day.
Crewel Artwork-Thrift Store Shopping- From My Front Porch To Yours
I was not sure what it was called but knew that whomever made it spent quiet sometime on it. I wish there was a date on the back. My friend Brenda told me it is Crewel. I can not wait till the holidays and winter when I can display it.

So all in all I did not too bad with $40 at the thrift stores.
I still prefer to shop my favorite antique ships though and I have already told Oldest & Littlest a trip is in our future this week!;)

  6. I have a small "plate" problem - in that I cannot resist interesting and/or beautiful plates. I love the ones you bought, and you were able to get a great deal on them! I also LOVE the frame that you purchased. Ornate, detailed frames like that are worth a fortune. What great luck you had!
I am finding the same issue with thrift stores in my area. Most of them have their items WAY overpriced. I rarely take the time to go anymore. These days, I find I prefer flea markets and yard sales.

  13. Hi Pamela. I love this post! Would you mind if I post a link to it on my blog?

I'm thinking about some sort of challenge or link party along these lines, but with less $$ because I'm cheap!

  15. Hi Pamela. I collect Memory Lane. What a find for $1.00. It is difficult to find here in south Mississippi. This is a link to a post I devoted to this delightful pattern: http://stillwoodsfarmhouse.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-trip-down-memory-lane.html
