Hi, everyone!
I am so happy to be a guest today at Pamela's blog and to be part of her wonderful series
How I found My Style Sundays. I am so honored!
How I found My Style Sundays. I am so honored!
Thank you for having me, Pamela! :)
My name is Maria Elena and I blog at Our Home Away From Home where I share
our home improvement adventures, crafts and home decor.
our home improvement adventures, crafts and home decor.
We are a retired military family, so after 23 years of traveling the world and living in 16 different homes due to our many moves, you many understand why our home is so special to us.
We finally feel like we belong somewhere.
I don't really know what my decorating style is. I will say it is a mix of just comfortable and homey.
After all, we do live here. :)
Being born and raised in Madrid, Spain, I think I
always add a little Spanish style and color to my decor
without really thinking about it.
I believe your home reflects who you are.
I am passionate about books and I also love to sew and crafts.
My dream of having a home library and my own craft room finally came true.
My husband and I love to work together on home projects and at any given weekend you can find us
enclosing the roof on the back porch and installing tile, building a new bench for our bedroom, adding crown molding to our master bathroom or rebuilding the whole laundry room.

I don't believe we
need to spend a small fortune decorating our homes and I like to up cycle many
of the items we already own to make our home as nice and comfortable as I can.
I guess I have never really found my decorating style because I just like to change things around quite often. LOL
One thing I never change is the clock on our mantle.
This is one of our favorite finds and it was the first item we ever purchased for our new home.

My advice to decorate your homes is to use the decor items and furniture that make you happy and you love,
no matter what the trend is. If you like it, be sure it will look gorgeous in your home.
Also, when in the mood to change or update any room, shop your house first and you will be surprised how many little things you can find here and there to give that space a whole new look.
