"How I Found My Style Sundays" will be back next week till then I thought that I would share our spring front porch. I was hoping to get it done before Easter but nothing was coming to me. I was having a major mental block on what to do. Thankfully after I made some moss wreaths -tutorial here- everything came to me. I just love it when that happens! |
Welcome to our spring front porch! |
The front door received its yearly spring staining. Trust me when I say it is super easy to do on your own! Took me all of an hour to go from dull and worn down to like new. |
One of the moss wreaths I made had a few things added to it. The little basket needed something more so I painted our street number on it. |
I was excited to bring out a few of my favorite things to add to the porch like the old corbel and Mr. HopAlong. |
Mr. HopAlong was a gift from my pal Robyn over at Robyn Story Designs. I mentioned on her FB post awhile back how much I loved him and before I knew it he was mine. Thanx Robyn! |
I turned the "HoHoHo" sign from Christmas into a "Welcome" sign. I panicked a little after painting the letters realizing that I never made sure they all would actually fit. I just assumed they would. They did not but I was determined . All I had to do was move the carriage house hardware up and down some. I attached the letters with oil rubbed bronze colored screws that match the carriage house hardware. Back at Christmas I had hot glued the "HoHoHo" letters on and they kept popping off. Lesson learned. Screws it was! I just love the pop of blue the sign brings to the porch! |
This is a metal sphere I bought at HomeGoods awhile back. I just glued some leftover moss to it. |
Thank you for stopping by and visiting today! I hope that you enjoyed this years spring porch. I am already brain storming on summers! Hopefully it will come to me in time!;)

LOVE your wreath & Mr. HopAlong! I have got to get going on the outside of our home, but its tough when it is early may and plants are JUST now starting to come up and we only have buds on the trees. This has been the slowest spring ever!

ReplyDeleteWould like see a tutorial on refinishing your front door.
ReplyDeleteJulie, you would have to wait till next year for me to do a full blown tutorial but here are the easy steps. It is just they way I like to do it and it always turns out beautiful. I use a sanding block and lightly sand down the entire door. Some places may need a little tougher sanding then others if you have any flaky areas from poly coming off. Then I wipe the door down to clean off all the dust. After that I use a cloth and apply Minwax stain. The color I chose was Dark Walnut I believe. Be sure to blend it in to get rid of any streaks. Then to seal it I suggest you purchase Minwax Helsman poly. It is specifically for outdoor wear and tear against the elements. Just apply that with a sponge brush and you are good to go till next year maybe two.

ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE what you did with your porch! The little flowers/greenery in your grapevine is great! Love the Welcome sign too. Looks so inviting! I'm a Texas gal also, and sometimes the Texas wind can be a challenge when decorating the porch, but I think all of yours looks like it would hold up great!! Really pretty!
