Living Room Fluffing

Over the weekend I began fluffing our living room after several weeks of it looking like we were moving out. I started out with the fireplace and mantle.
Last night I worked on the top of the t.v. armoire.

Thankfully again I already had everything I needed. The clock had been sitting in the closet since last fall. I bought it HomeGoods for just $12!

It took me about an hour to pull this all together. I can not tell you how many times I changed it up before I got to this display.

Next up I worked on the area next to the fireplace.

This was the perfect spot to hang my boxwood wreath that I purchased a few weeks back from HomeGoods. I have to say I LOVE me some HomeGoods but ours over the last month or so has been moving everything around and I HATE the new flow of things. It is just awful. So awful that I find that I do not go in there as often. HomeGoods if you are reading and I know sometimes you are please STOP with the madness it makes no sense at all! Anyways, back to accessorizing.

I always keep out the angel from our nativity set. I think she is very pretty though one day I hope to find a Santos angel as well.

My favorite books that I got back at Christmas time that I just can not put down. Also added in these fleur de leis book ends I received. I was thinking about painting them but they work so I will leave um alone.

And here is the final touch of the living room. Well minus the coffee table that has all the stuff I pulled out of the pretty closet and decided not to use!;)

On a separate note, I woke up this morning and on the radio they were talking about some study conducted that resulted in the conclusion that using FaceBook makes people sad because all they ever see are peoples perfect pictures of their perfect lives which we all know is not always the case. We just like to share only those perfect pictures. Well it got me to thinking that blogging really is the same way. I can not tell you how many times I have gotten a little blue after looking at all the wonderful inspiration out there in blogland and thinking my house will never look like that no matter how great my house may look at the time. I am sure I am not alone. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my house and will be sad to leave it but sometimes it is just nice to know we are not perfect and that we do not live in a perfect world.

On that note here is the unperfect side of our house at this moment. Enjoy!;)

Next up the dining room.

  3. I love what you have done with your mantel and tv armoire! Your taste is very similar to mine and it's nice to see a home that isn't all white and fluffy. Don't get me wrong, I like white and fluffy, but my house isn't and yes, I am one of those people who thought because of that, my home wasn't good enough, or that I needed to change it, and it made me a little sad. Then I remembered how I was no longer going to try to squeeze myself into anybody's mold, no matter how pressured I may feel. I like my color selections and the old world accessories I use with it. There's a little shabby chic, a little romantic, a little of alot of things, including me! I love Home Goods and Kirklands too!Thank you for your post and for sharing your pics, perfect and not! Hugs, Leena

  4. all your fluffin looks good to me. I love that clock you used.
it amazes me how folks see things differently. Everytime I look at houzz or pinterest I see a bazillion things I'd change lol. I never see what to my eye is the Perfect picture. So I'm not sad when I look. Maybe, its just perspective.

  6. ITA about Facebook and that's why I closed my personal one. I found that I was spending too much time on Facebook instead of with live friends and family. I have my Always Nesting Facebook but that doesn't take any time away from real life for me. I love your messed up, real life house and I bet the dishes need to be loaded in the dishwasher and dinner needs to be cooked and the kids need baths.....just like in our real worlds. Bless you for being real! xoxo Marla

  8. You did a great job fluffing up your living area. I think I am going to have to make a trip over to Home Goods. I don't have one on my side of town. I just love that clock and the silver ware holder from one of your previous post. And there you go teasing again I can't wait to see Antoinette's debut. Enjoy your evening!!

    Cheers

So true, we should enjoy all the encouragement and inspiration we receive from visiting other blogs, but remember that the perfect pictures are posted and perfect, well that's not real life!
Hope you have a wonderful evening!

  12. Nice job, Pamela! I love that you used stuff you had, too. Love your boxwood wreath and those fleur bookends. I remember when Home Goods by my old house started moving stuff around. I hated it. I think it was because they were adding more and more furniture pieces and the store just is not big enough.

It is true. I guess we all want others to see the "best" in us. I will say that one time, awhile ago, I posted a Goodwill lamp makeover and someone left a snarky comment about stuff I had on my kitchen counter, where I took the picture. So what do you do?
