So we are now on day number two of waiting for the AC guy to come and grace us with his presence. The upstairs unit is on the fritz. It is reading 6 degrees higher than what it is set at so yeah, definitely issues there. After waiting all day yesterday I began to make dinner and I noticed over in the breakfast room we were blessed with the presence of uninvited house guests. They have stopped by every year in every house we have owned. I swear they single me out just so they can watch me go crazy! Well not this time ya darn ants! I kept my cool and just made sure to clean up every teeny tiny crumb that there was on the floor while smooshing each and every one of them with a vengeance. Such a bad hostess I know but I just could not resist. I then proceeded to vacuum out the seat cushions on the chairs and coach. Yeah, that was a little bit much but trust me well worth the peace of mind. They had not been cleaned out in oh say a year and in our last house the darn things went from the dining room all the way to the living room couch looking for a snack. I did not even know we had them till Littliest came in and told me he had ants on him. Mind you he was only two at the time. I was hysterical seeing as we had only been in our home a week. You had never seen such a crazy lady but I digress. I kept my cool this time around and am under a vigilant watch today seeing as we are again waiting for the AC guy to come sometime between 12-4 like yesterday. Monday we will be playing the waiting game for the pest team to come and spray . I found the darn pests making their way in from outside the breakfast room door to the patio. I sprayed and everything yesterday but apparently there are a few that did not get the memo to move on.
With my high hopes dashed of a trip to HomeGoods which I have not been to in 3 weeks and am going thru with drawl along with bribery of popcorn and a slushie at Target afterwards I sat and pondered what to do. Then it came to me. There was a project sitting on the dining room table for like a month and half now. It was the perfect keep me busy so I do not have thoughts of pulling my hair out while I wait project.
The wreath went from sitting out in the garage to sitting in the dining room for yes I will say it again a month and half.
I started to dismantle it and as you can see without even having to look closely the berries were just well plain gross!
After adding the vine and magnolia garland back on top with florist wire I just started adding in my extras that I purchased at HobLob for half off. I think I spent like $10 on the redo.
The one thing I HATE about working with grapevine wreaths is the mess. It was just too hot to do it outside on the patio though and good grief if I had missed the call from the AC guy I would have been livid. Apparently somehow he called at 7 pm last night. Had the phone with me but somehow someway we missed the call. It lasted all of a minute so not sure he even let it ring to be honest. I have a feeling he just called for a sec and hung up so he could go on home.
I think it seems to still be missing a little something. Maybe a nests or something. I have a moss bunny like the one on Lindsey's wreath but it screams spring to me so yes, maybe a nests will be good.
Okay now off to see what else I can busy myself with and to see just how hot it is upstairs. Wanna place any bets!?:) Hope your day is going well and thanx for stopping by!
What craziness!! I would die without AC. And the ants, oh my!!
ReplyDeleteIf it gets too bad send those boys out here to help in the garden : )
HA!!
I love the wreath. I've been wanting to redo my front porch.
Our A/C is acting up too. Yuck. It looks like we will have to get a whole new system. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Your Baton Rouge doors were beautiful. I love double doors.
ReplyDeleteYour wreath re-do looks great. I don't know how you could improve upon it except maybe with 4th of July coming up you could insert a couple of small flags then change little things our seasonally like your bunny for spring and find a cute fall thing to stick in there.

The Hubster and I both loved our huge double doors! We hope top have a house with some again one day.
ReplyDeleteI love that wreath. It really looks elegant. I could last all summer. Thanks for sharing that. You are very talented.

ReplyDeleteI have a good exterminator if you want his number. He got rid of my ants 2 years ago...for good.
