Office Furniture & Ceiling Fan

Things are a little slow going in the office as we wait. I will get to that in a moment.
Home Office -Ceiling Fan-DIY Office Makeover-From My Front Porch To Yours

Over the weekend we installed the new ceiling fan. We were slightly hesitant because we have always had a traditional ceiling fan and we were not sure what type of air this one would put out but man oh man this baby keeps things cooled off. We had actually purchased a traditional one but neither I or Mr. Front Porch were too excited about it so when we saw this one we knew we had to bring it home and try it out.We also brought in the new furniture pieces. This is where the waiting comes into play.

This black cabinet we fell in love with when we saw it at a local home decor shop. It was just what we were looking for but we needed a pair. The owner said she would happily order us a second one but it may take a little while. We were OK waiting because it was just what we had been looking for. The second one actually came in earlier than we thought it would so we were excited.

It was delivered and can you spot the difference?

The second cabinet is by the same maker but it is slightly different from the first cabinet that we purchased.

This pic isn't all that great but if you look at the drawers they are separated differently which is no big deal to us. What we couldn't get past was the fact that the second one is 2 inches shorter than the first one. If it had been the same height we would have been OK with it being slightly different. I think what makes it shorter is that the molding at the top is not as substantial as the first one. We pondered on if we wanted to just add extra trim up there but decided since we were paying for new furniture we wanted them to be the same and not mess around with having to match up the paint. The owner was just as disappointed as us that the cabinets were not the same and quickly ordered another cabinet. She is thinking they changed the design up. So here we wait to see what the third cabinet will look like. Hopefully it will match one of these two. We really prefer the taller one but know it will most likely be another like the second one.

Another piece of furniture we brought in is this french style sideboard.

I have always wanted a piece of furniture with the fancy cabinet hardware. Too bad it is for Mr. Front Porch's office. LOL. It is the perfect height and size for his newest hobby. I will be covering up the windows in the sideboard so people will not be able to see all of his hobby supplies. Mr. Front Porch will be building a shelving system with conduit for above the sideboard. I think it will turn out pretty awesome. I have the rug for in here but have not put it down yet since we will be having to move the cabinets out. Right now since they have felt on the bottom we are able to just slide them around. If we put the rug down it will make it harder to get them out for when the third cabinet arrives. Mr. Front Porch still has to build the desk for in between the two cabinets. He will probably be busy doing that this weekend.

I will probably be busy playing with fabric!:) The toile fabric I ordered for the curtains came in and I just love it! Mr. Front Porch doesn't hunt nor fish but it is the perfect addition to his man cave.

  1. HI Pamela, What is the finish on the back wall? Is it a plank wall? I love those furniture pieces! And, it looks like you have plenty of room.

    1. Thanks Betty. The curtains will be the toile fabric in the picture I shared on this post and the rug is a brown and cream houndstooth.

  3. This is fantastic, Pamela! You always do your own personal stamp on every room. You hit it out of the ball park this time. That wall is jaw dropping!
