The good, the bad, and just plain ugly!

Sometimes some things are just better off left alone! Wednesday I decided to tackle painting the back door. I had been wanting to do it for sometime now and thought it would be lovely in a blue.

Hmmmm, not so much lovely so I attempted to adjust the color some.

I added in some more blue and again just not feeling it.

Ended up with this and lets just say the good in all of this is the fact that it is just paint and will be painted back to its original white glory very shortly!:)

???

Can you guess what I am up to this morning!!?? Hoping to finish it in a few hours so it will be completed before The Hubster gets home. If he sees it all completed he will be less likely to fuss about my craziness!:) It is not like I have two extra 6 yr olds coming over tomorrow for lunch and one mom with four toilets to clean and some vacuuming to do but thats me.

Stumped

Edited 4/6/11- Linking Up To
The Stories Of A to Z Spring Mantel Party

Stumped! Yep that has been me. This is how our mantel and armoire has looked ever since holiday came down. For the first week or two I was okay with it and then I wanted to come up with a fresh new look. That is where my problem came about. For the life of me I could not think up a thing to do to these areas. I hunted high and low for the one piece to spark my creativity which was lost some where. Nothing at HobLob and nothing at HomeGoods. Then one day I remembered that there was something I had been wanting for ever!! I had been pining over it for over a year and so I finally broke down and ordered a set from FarmHousewares since I had a 10% off code.

Can you guess what came today!!??? Yep, I finally ordered a set of herb crates that ya see all over blogland! I was so excited!! It was exactly what I needed to get my creative juices flowing again.

This is what the armoire looked like this morning.

This is what it looks like now! Sorry for the poor lighting. The sun had moved to the side of the house so this was the best I could do.

I had placed the Madam Bust up there last night and The Hubster was like um no that is ugly. I agreed but now that she has company I think she looks right at home.

Just a frame and a birds nest. Ya gotta love ya some nests and empty frames!

I think this display turned out well. I am pondering on what I want to do with the inside of the doors now. They look so bare.

Well since I did the armoire I knew I had to move on to the mantel. This is how it has looked for awhile  Bionical and all. I think he was trying to hit on our Angel but she gave him the boot!;)

This is what the mantel looks like now. It is simply stated I think. I decided to keep the extra mirror there that I had moved in for the holidays. Eventually I am sure it will find its way back to the bathroom.

I love these lil' potted plants. They have moved every where around the house.

Another Song Bird frame that I decided to keep for myself.

And as always our Christmas angel who stays out all year.
I am now more at peace with my surroundings. It is started to feel homey again and not so sterile. I am currently working on the dresser and what not to the side of the fireplace so I will have to share that another day.

Don;t forget about my Paula Deen give away that ends this Friday! Also I finally figured out how to make my button into a real button so I have added those to my sidebar if ya want it!:)
Thanx for stopping by!! I am joining in on the following Linky parties!

A Field Trip

Recently Oldest was Star Student for the week which meant he got to bring home the class bear. When you bring the bear home you are suppose to take it on an adventure and share with the class all that the bear did while he was off visiting you. On our way to take Rock N Rollie to Bucees because we know how exciting a gas stating can be...no  really it is an AWESOME gas station like no other but more abt that later...we stopped off at the Sam Houston monument in Huntsville.

This guy is HUGE! I think something like 67 feet tall. He sits right off the side of the interstate and we have always seen him but never bothered to stop.

Here is Rock N Rollie learning all about Sam himself.

And here are my boys acting like boys! Yep I definitely  live in a house full of men!;) The boys had fun and it made for a nice adventure for the bear.

We opted out of the prison museum which was next before ya get to Bucees. Yes, I said prison museum and yes it is next to a prison.

Now back to the gas station before y'all think we are nutso taking a field trip to a truck stop! Bucees is not just a truck stop gas station! If you live in Tx and have never stopped by one you are missing out! Bucees has EVERYTHING you could possible dream of like made from scratch deli, wine shop, hunting supplies, and a huge gift shop with tons of eye candy! It is the cleanest and I mean cleanest gas station you will ever stop at!! While we were there they had several employees on the floor scrubbing the grout lines with a tooth brush. They take clean to a whole level y'all! We went so that we could get Rock N Rollie his very own Bucees tshirt. Yes we drove an hour and half to get a stuffed bear a tshirt. Oh the things we do for our children!
Click Here so you can see some pics of what I am talking abt! Bucees has quite a following here.

Now off to try and tackle the mantel. I am having the hardest time coming up with something to display. Sigh....
