Sewing Room Treasures

Even though I have what seems to be an endless list of projects that I have started on I can not help myself. I have been dreaming abt a sewing/craft room make over. I am the only gal in this house so I want a truly girly room.

This is one of my inspiration photos from Shabby Scraps. Her entire home is beautiful. Our craft rooms are shaped very similar. I love the entire shabby chic theme. However even though her white walls are lovely I have to have more color on mine.

Which brings me to Heather Bailey's craft room!! I just LOVE it to no end!! So my room will be a mix of both of these ladies beautiful spaces. I have already started collecting treasures for my future smaller scale redo.

The Hubster bought me these the other night at Target. They are perfect to keep all my sewing supplies and scraps in. Eventually they will get some chalk board decals on them. The best thing abt them is that they were in the $1 section and just $2.50. Yeah, that is mind boggling to me as well so I wonder if it is really called the $1 section after all.

They also have these matching trash cans! I had to have this one in Tiffany Blue. They had pink but it was more of a purple so it stayed behind. $2.50 as well. They even have closet organizers and all to match.

At Home Goods yesterday I saw this lamp before we even entered the store. It had been awhile since the lamp section had been restocked so I knew right away there was indeed only good things to come. I just love the shape of the shade and the bling on it! The Fleur de leis at the bottom is just up my ally as well.

This rug was patiently waiting for me to take it home as well! I had seen it on Friday but put it back. I was very surprised it was still there. It has all the colors in it I am working with. I think I will be placing it in the adjoining bathroom.

Here is my peace of resistance!! Found it on the local yard sale site for just $10!! It had creamy colored eyelet fabric on top of the shades but last night I ripped it off and found the pink. A lil' fruffing and they will be perfect. Not quite sure where I will hang it and to be honest I have a CRAZY idea of where I want to hang it but I will save that for another post. It has something to do with a ceiling fan that has to stay.

And one last treasure! A few weeks back I mentioned this beautiful desk I found on Craigs List but they wanted wayyyy toooo much for it at least for me. It was not budget friendly at all.

Last weekend The Hubster took me to go and pick this up that I found on the local yard sale site for half of what the gal wanted for the first desk on Craigs.

It is not quite the same but will be just as lovely in the end. I am picturing a crystal knob on the one drawer!

This is the hutch portion of the desk. It is huge. I love the bead board backing! I can picture my new Target buckets sitting on them.

Then here is the chair that came with it. It has a nasty vinyl cover on the seat that must come off. I have been trying to find a fabric that jumps out at me for it. So far nothing. The entire thing will be painted a creamy white. I am a bit hesitant to do it though since it is partially made of veneer. I am hoping to score some of Annie Sloan's chalk paints since she says the chalk paint will cover just abt anything without any prep to include melamine which I am hoping is like veneer just maybe!?

So now that I have day dreamed enough I am off to tackle this and to make dinner for my men!:) Hope your week is going well thus far!

New Obsessions

Hey ya'll! Hope your Monday is going well! We have had a super one. Not too many Mondays are but today was a good one. I sold my first key fob/wristlet so I was tickled!:) We ran errands and I found some wonderful pieces for my sewing room! I will share those soon I promise but for now I want to share with you my new obsession!

In the past three days I have purchased not one but two decorating coffee table books. I am truly obsessed with these two! Ha! I look thru them over and over again and just dream abt the possibilities.

My first purchase was this one by April Cornwell. I love her use of color and patterns!

Look at that beautiful bedroom! The pictures and illustrations in this book are amazing!

This is her living room. Again all the color I love.

This is what caught my eye the most abt that room though. I love the transom window she has hanging up in her window.

I also love her dining room! See that Tudor style window back there behind the plates? Well it got me thinking.

This is a pic of our living room windows. They are pretty tall and yes there are three of them but The Hubster was already sitting in his chair and playing on his Ipad refusing a pic so you will just have to use your imagination abt the third window. I was wanting to do bamboo shades but then after I saw those pics I decided I want to either hunt down old stained glass transoms at a bargain price..yeah right...or have The Papa help me make a faux tudor style window. It won't have the glass in it, just the framing for one. He does not know this yet so shhh for now!;) Ha! Not sure it can be done but if it can I plan on hanging one in each window and then....

doing a second set of sheer panels below the faux transoms like in this pic from over at Beyond The Screen Door. I LOVE Sonya's blog!!! She has sooo many window treatment inspirations it is not funny! After seeing all of them I now think I may have to go out and buy extra yardage to add to mine so I can do a double pouf like this as well. Not sure how to double pouf but I will figure it out. Sounds like a Nana and me project!;) So now I am on a mission!

As if that was not enough inspiration I found this book today!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! Did I mention how much I LOVE this book!? Ha!

Look at this gorgeous layout! It just makes ya wanna drool doesn't it!;) Annie Sloan is marvelous! I told The Hubster we have to move to England so I can go to her shop and take her class!

This book is fantastic because not only does she share her words of wisdom on how to create the French look in your home she also gives you step by step directions on how to achieve some of her painting techniques! She uses chalk paint and wax! That's it! I am so in love with this book that I went straight to Anne's website to see if it was even possible for me to purchase any of her paints and believe it or not with a few more bibs sewn I can probably do it! I can not wait!!
So there ya have it! My new obsessions! Ya got any?
