I have not been doing a lot of blog posts since before Christmas and I apologize. I have been preoccupied and majorly stressing. Mr. Front Porch and I have been doing a lot of thinking. I halted doing any new projects and started on a long to do list. It was a little overwhelming to say the least. So what is up?

I am in love with this floor plan. That fireplace is dreamy with the stone and chunky white mantel.
Source This kitchen is a dreamy set up. Mr. Front Porch does not think I would like it because it does not look into the living room. |

One model home we toured had a mother in law suite which was ideal for when the GPs come to stay. The home was 2800 sq ft with the suite but it felt huge! We currently have a 3700 sq ft home. Downsizing is an option we are seriously considering since we really do not use the upstairs.
This is the dining room to the home with the mother in law suite. |
This is the kitchen to the same home with the suite. I LOVED how large the kitchen felt. |
Easy DIY ceiling treatment. |
Pretty secondary bedroom. |
Can you tell why I loved this space!? Oh those beams! |
I thought when I saw the photo, you had chosen a house and that was your new kitchen!! There are some fabulous ones and all that gorgeous wood and open space! If I had the chance, I would jump at it 100%. I know you'll do what works for your family:-) What a fun process, though!
ReplyDeleteI truly would love that house I think Anita! Pretty sure it would be way out of our range by the time you add the beams and all that but a girl can dream!:) Hope you are still keeping warm!
DeleteI wish you the very best in decision making, pamela! All your pics of possibilities are gorgeous - what a fun but tough decision, yes?
ReplyDeleteAs for MY weather - you absolutely must visit my weekend post here to see how crazy our weather is here.

Take care.
It is so hard to make a decision when there are so many options…We want to downsize, however, we decided to wait a year or so and make that decision…as we love our neighborhood…I love the kitchen that is so large and open that has the suite…I think as our parents age, it is always great to have such a great space that they can use..
ReplyDeleteYou have a very difficult situation...I admire that you can adapt to moving and being in new homes all the time. You definitely do a great job decorating!!
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best in whatever you do. Keep us posted!
XO,
Jane
Oh, how sad that you are always moving. I am sure you enjoy it. . but wow, what a hard thing, to never put down roots. You do an amazing job decorating, and anywhere you live and whatever house you chose will be beautiful. I look forward to following along and seeing the outcome. Good luck. Karie
ReplyDeleteKarie it is not really all that sad. We moved away for two years and came back to the same neighborhood just a different house. We have come to realize though a house is just a building. It is the people inside it that make it a home.
DeleteYou are a brave soul to handle moves so well! I can understand the difficulty of this decision...I hope it all works out easily for you. The photos of the house with the mil suite is absolutely gorgeous! They all are but I adore that kitchen.

P.S. I've been almost as shocked as you re: the freezing temps & ice there. I'm in the DFW area and it's been bitterly cold the past 2 days but no precip. That horrible ice storm we had early on was horrible!
Those homes are gorgeous, Pamela ... we tend to get ourselves in trouble when we tour model homes, don't we?! LOL. I look forward to seeing what you guys decide to do!
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide....it will always be home.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, I can't wait to see what transpires! Beautiful pics.....:) ~Liz
ReplyDeleteHi Liz! So nice to see you stop by. I can not tell you how many emails I get asking if I have heard from you. I hope that you and your family are doing well and had a wonderful Christmas! Thanx for stopping by to visit!
DeleteI say go for it!!! When something grabs you. Go for it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat house is AMAZING... and anything with beams. Love love love.

Pamela that house is so gorgeous and that kitchen unbelievable. It must be hard and stressful right now, it is hard when in limbo. I think you so did the right thing with the pool especially in Texas. I see how hot it gets there on the news. Those beams are amazing. I would like to incorporate them in our new place but we will see about the budget. Good luck with your decision.

How exciting! I love looking at new homes. I wish you the best!
ReplyDeleteJealous! I'd love to bail on this puppy and get a new house.
ReplyDeleteWe just bought our home six years ago but may decide to downsize ourselves. I love looking at new homes! So beautiful!
