Meet Simone

I lucked up on this solid wood french provincial dresser back in May.
She was pretty heavy and sat in the front office for a few weeks till I decided what path I wanted to go with her.
Old White played a big part in her make over.
Next up came some CoCo and some gold gilding wax.
And here she is today!
My desire was to make it look as old and frenchy as possible. If you like things perfect then this probably won't be a favorite of yours.
I love how the gilding makes it pop!
All the different depths and crackles really make this piece come to life.

Tip to those who may not have tried the gilding wax yet do NOT wipe clear wax on top of it. It will take the gold right off!:(

  4. She turned out beautiful!! The same thing happened to me when I used gold Rub n Buff on a piece and then waxed it. The Rub n Buff came right off too.

  6. I've never even heard of gilding wax! It looks amazing. I have found the same thing with clear over dark wax--it takes the color right out! But sometimes that can be useful ;-)

  8. That is stunning, Pamela! I love the colors you used. I just ordered a sample pot of Coco to try on a small accent table. Love the way the gilding wax added that great final touch. How do you apply that ~ brush? That same little accent table will be getting its top insert in either Old Ochre or Old White and I thought to outline the line between the Coco and the other color with some gold. I could just use a gold paint pen, but I really like the way yours turned out.

  9. I really like the gilding wax. I'm assuming this is Annie Sloan's new products? If you are not to wax over it, do you just do the gilding last?

  28. Hey Pamela!!! I am so thrilled & honored that you stopped by my blog to give my kitchen island some LOVE!! That was too sweet of you. Girl, you aren't kidding...we could tear it UP as neighbors. You have some serious creativity. This piece is BEAUTIFUL. I mean GORGEOUS. Loving every thing I see on your site. I'm actually not directly in Round Rock, but rather 45 minutes up the road in Killeen/Fort Hood. Any chance that makes us closer? It would be SUPER fun to live near an awesome blogger like yourself!! Hope you have a fabulous weekend! HUGS, kristi
