One Mans Oops

I have been MIA the past two weeks sorda and I apologize. I have not been posting but have been stopping by and saying Hi to some of my bloggy pals as time permitted! Oldest and now Littliest both have colds and well I have been trying to finish a huge part of the mother-in-law suite redo that I am in the midst of.
A few weeks back I had it all planned out and headed to Lowes to get them to color match a SW color. I stood in line for literally 45 minutes and gave up. I came home and decided to just use the Oops paint I had purchased many moons ago when we first moved here. This decision was made primarily because patience is not a virtue that I nor my children posses. At least they get it honestly. Not sure if it is patience that is lacking or just plain hard headiness.

Anyways, I decided that ones mans Oops was my treasure and so I started putting it on the walls.

You can see some of the other colors that were in the running before I decided to stick with the bedding I already had. (Note Biltmore Buff on the wall. You will need that for later in the post.)

The adjoining bath is getting a new look as well. I was crossing my fingers I had enough paint for both. I used a small roller brush to ensure I was not wasting any. Took me forever in a day but the gallon made the distance.

Loving the color but NOT the mess! As soon as I had showered and fed the fam I high tailed it back in there and brought in the newly painted headboard and started to try and work some magic. Again the patience thing at play. I wanted to see it together and just could not wait one more minute. The headboard had been out in the garage patiently waiting for over two weeks.

Looking into the bathroom from the bedroom. The color is soo calming I think. The cabinet will soon be black! I already have the knobs and everything. Hoping this upcoming week I can tackle it.

Here is a sneak peek at where I am heading. Go here to see my original idea. I was not sure wether to go blue or yellow but seeing as our master will soon be SW Biltmore Buff which has a yellow tint to it I decided to go with the blue. I saw the HGTV Green Home where the master has blue, red and pops of yellow color scheme and decided I could make it all work together too. Of course I am going in the direction of cottage chic and not modern. I am working on pulling it all together.

Which brings me to my newest hunt! I MUST have this fabric! If you have seen it anywhere PLEASE let me know! It is by Ralph Lauren and called Belle Harbor. I know the fab is out there somewhere because I have seen some sellers on Ebay using it in pillows and curtains. I have asked them to lead me in the right direction but I am sure I will not get a response. I just can not afford to pay $70 for two shams. I want to make a shower curtain with it too maybe or just a valance. All depends on the $$$. So far I have googled it, Etsied it, and Calico Corners it and nothing.

And of course I could not leave ya'll without a pic of my personal assistant. She always looks peeved but trust me she is a sweetie of all sweeties! Here she is contemplating on which way we should go with the curtain mistreatments. Our original plan may not work. It is still undecided.
Hope your weekend is going great!

  1. Love that wall color, Pamela! I guess you were meant to use it in this room. : ) Have you checked fabric.com or warehousefabrics.com? That pattern makes me think of the one that was on my living sofa before I had it slipcovered. Mine was a dark blue background though.
