Foyer Talk

I promised y'all a look at the foyer here at the new house.

I have to tell ya I was spoiled at our last house with how large of a foyer we had.

Some would call it a waste of space. I loved everything about it from the two story entry...

to the faux brick wall.

It was so large that I could fit my vintage "Old Lady" sofa in it which the boys used on a daily basis.

Our old foyer made me smile every time we walked thru the front door. It greeted us home.

Our last home was a little over 3700 sq ft and with the new house we down sized to a little over 3400 sq ft. We decided to build a house minus a media room. We didn't need a media room and a game room. As for the rest of the house some areas are larger than our last and some are smaller. One of the smaller areas is our foyer.

So this is our foyer at the new house.

As you can see it is quite a bit smaller and less dramatic but that is ok. I am working on bringing it to life. Stop back by this week. I will be sharing what I have done with our foyer thus far and what our plans are for it.

  1. both are beautiful, Pamela. LOVE your new front door. I checked around your blog but couldn't find what color wall paint you used. Did you stick with it throughout your whole house? It's a gorgeous color! Happy Valentine's Day!

    1. The color at the new house is called Caravan by Pittsburg Paints. It is a beautiful color but it is too dark for our house. The entire house is painted that color so I will be repainting most every room but maybe the boys. They like their rooms dark. I am going to go with Agreeable Gray for the main parts of the house and I still need to decide on a color for the office and dining room.

  5. Enjoy your new home. I know what you mean about paint being too dark. Almost every house we have purchased has had to be painted in lighter colors. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday. xo Diana

    1. It is a beautiful color but I just can not live in the darkness. If we had more natural light I could deal or if in our home it leaned more towards gray but it usually looks more beige. I went lighter and brighter at our last home and wished I had done it sooner so there will certainly be a lot of painting going on around here!:) Thank you for stopping by!

    1. Michele it is a beautiful color and when I saw it in another home I really liked it but after living here for several months and seeing how the lighting is most days it is just way too dark in here. I will do a post sharing soon what color I picked out and just how dark it is. Thank you for stopping by to visit!

    1. Thank you so much Debra! It took quite a few years to get it just the way I had envisioned it so I have to be patient with this house. Thank you for taking the time to visit and comment!

  11. Hi!

Last year we renovated/expanded our kitchen and added on a dining area. We went with a darker floor which has taken some getting used to because our old floor was white. Now the space, while larger, feels darker. So I've been looking for ways to brighten things up and add my style. I stumbled upon your blog and was so excited because the floors in your old house are almost identical to our floors, except ours are vinyl plank. I've been thinking about putting light grey buffalo check curtains on the patio door in the dining area to help brighten it. So the pictures of your living room really helped me envision how it would look with my floors. I think my paint color is even very similar. The crazy part is, the fabric on your footstool is the exact fabric I have and was planning on making a cushion for the bench at my dining table. So I was really able to envision how all of it would work together by your photo! Now I'm curious, did you make the footstool or buy it that way? Anyway, I'm really enjoying your blog and can't wait to see what you do with the new place!

    1. Lisa it is always nice when you can see what you have envisioned. I think your idea of the curtains is perfect! As for the footstool I have a friend who teaches classes and so she taught me during one other classes. Thank you for stopping by. I hope that you will visit again soon!

    2. Just curious, do you know if your check curtains are French Grey or Ecru (taupe)? I ordered French Grey fabric to make my curtains, but it seems much lighter than I was picturing and now I'm wondering if I should be going with taupe to get a look similar to your curtains.
