Door Command Center Painted Sherwin Williams Rainwashed

This week I started freshening up the hallway from our dining room to our kitchen using left over paint I had.

You can see the hallway from the living room. The door desperately needed painting. I wish I had remembered to take a before pic but I just jumped right in there and started.

The door was just standard white and had seen better days since the boys hang their backpacks here. I decided to use left over Sherwin Williams Rainwashed that I had painted our master bedroom with in the Spring.

Next I decided that the black frame on the chalk board was no longer going to work. I wanted to paint it gold to mimic  vintage gold frames that I love so much.

DecoArt Elegant Finish Metallic Paint in Glorious Gold is just the perfect gold to achieve a vintage gold look.

I was going to glaze the door but decided to just lightly distress the edges so that the white would peek thru. That way when it starts showing wear again it will look like it was intentional!;)

This was a quick update that only took a few hours and cost nothing.

It is hard to get pictures.

I ended up standing in our pantry to get a full view. I am so glad that I decided to paint the door. It now matches the door out to our patio that I painted awhile back. I have updated the other three doors in the hallway as well but I will share those in another post.

  5. I love the rainwashed blue and the chalkboard frame. You really made this door one of a kind. I love the idea of distressing it so that when it gets messed up it looks intentional, lol, LOVE that!

  9. I love it, Pamela! The paint color is fabulous ... the hooks are awesome ... and the chalkboard is a cool crowing touch! I'm working on one for our home, too, although, I have to "hide" mine on the inside of the closet since it won't be nearly pretty as yours!
