Ol' Bessie Finds A Home

I just adore Ol' Bessie to pieces. As soon as I saw her I knew I HAD to have her. Once I got her though it took me awhile to figure out where I was going to display her. My original idea was in the top area of our hutch in the dining room. Then I decided she needed a job.

We live in Texas and what is better than a good old cow greeting ya when you walk in to a home!?

I think Ol' Bessie is liking her new home in our foyer. After the holidays she may end up in our dining room but for now we enjoy seeing her when we come home.

Of course Max our GQ kitty had to get in on the picture taking action. In the mornings he hangs out here to tell the boys good bye on our way out the door to school. He will actually sit there till I get back and then he goes on about his day. His is such a sweetie. He is just now learning to stand up to his sister pup Miss Savannah. Oh my could she get him running.

On another note look what I found at HomeGoods this week!! I fell in love instantly and they jumped right in my cart. I have been wanting some brown transfer wear plates fro a long time now and well I love bunnies so what is better than that? I purchased four of them and am hoping they will get a platter to match.

If you are interested in some of your own here is the info. I tried hunting some down on the internet and all I found were some SUPER expensive ones on Ebay.

Treasure Hunt Thursday #77 & Highlights

Last weeks party was record setting!! We had 119 party goers and let me just say the inspiration was overwhelming. I am pretty sure I made it by to visit each and every link. If I missed you I apologize but I am pretty sure I got to each and every one who linked up. Because the party has been growing by leaps and bounds as a thank you on Tuesdays I will now be featuring the top three links with the most views! So far the response has been positive and you are saying this is what y'all want to see so anything to make the party more fun and inviting for y'all.

Now on to my personal top picks from last weeks party.

Sue over at Sullivan & Murphy caught my eye with this fabulous fall vignette. I love the old dominoes.
Kristin from Sophia's  shared her new craft room. Look at that vintage clock collection! I would never leave my craft room is it looked like this.
Kimberly from Serendipity Refined stopped me in my tracks with her amazing Halloween mantle and hearth. Truly one of a kind.
Angela from Number Fifty-Three shared her out of this world dining room. I love the candle stick display on the buffet but what first caught my eye is her book page wall! I just love it.

Last but not least I could not resist this jack o' lantern table scape that Marty from over at A Stroll Thru Life shared with us. It just makes me smile.

As always thank you to all who partied last week! I am so truly honored to have such talent partying at my place! If you were featured please feel free to grab the "I've Been Featured" button!:) I have the newly updated button with html code on my sidebar!

What would be a HUGE help and encourage more comments not just from me but others as well would be for everybody to take off their required verification codes for leaving a comment. This seems to take just a few seconds of time but when you have to do it on 30 or more blogs it takes up a TON of time. Last week most everybody had turned off their Word Verification which made it so much easier for me to stop by everybody's links! Thank you!

READ THE RULES PLEASE!:)
Now on to this weeks party!
As with all parties there are the normal rules. You must link back to From My Front Porch To Yours in your THT POST. Just common courtesy. If ya don't link back ya don't get to party. Only link up to your Treasure Hunt Thursday post and NOT your blog homepage. Please No advertising and PLEASE NO MORE than 3 links from the SAME party goer. Also NO MORE linking up to your own link parties. I am seeing more and more link ups of just people promoting their own linky parties. I know it takes time to go back and make a separate post to join the party but it is just the polite thing to do. If you find your post deleted it is not because I am a meany, I just have to make sure the rules are being followed. You can save some of your posts for the following weeks party! Please only link up new posts and not posts that you linked up the week before.

Also be sure to visit at least the link before you and after you to just say Hi! It makes partying all the more fun and remember if your link has had the most visits you will get featured on Tuesdays! If you are new around here I would love it if ya become a follower!:)

Dining Room Furniture Makeover In Progress

This is the picture from the ad when my french hutch was for sale. If you remember for me to be able to purchase it I had to take the table and chairs as well. I said no problem because I knew I could make them over and sell them since we already owned a table and chairs.
There are two arm chairs and four regular chairs to this set.

I had painted all the chairs in Maison Blanche La Bonne Terre and was planning on the top coat being Wrought Iron. After I painted one chair in Wrought Iron I decided to go back to La Bonne Terre. I just wasn't feeling the black chair.

Here are all the chairs patiently waiting for the next step of their make over.

Next up came the table. It has a leaf which makes the table rather large. The table top had some wear and tear on the top which is to be expected since the owner had purchase it back in 1976 I believe they said. So really over all it was in excellent condition. I was not sure if I was going to paint the top or refinish it. I hemmed and hawed over that decision for a week. I over analyze everything.

Of course I chose to refinish it. I sanded the top down which took about a day and a half. I was not quite sure how it would turn out so my back up plan of course was to paint it if the refinishing didn't come out right.

The top ended up coming out pretty great so I then started on the bottom of the table. I used Wrought Iron on the base.

After the top was dry from staining I decided I wanted to add a little element of surprise. Something you do not see everyday. I got a crazy idea and started free handing. Don't worry I promise the gold will not be in your face. This is just the first step in my process and where I am at today. I can't wait to see how it all comes together. I honestly had no idea really what direction I was going with this set. It is just kinda coming to me as I go along.

I am currently debating on what fabric to choose for the chairs. I thought about just letting the buyer bring me their own fabric. Then I thought how unexciting the for sale pictures would be without the cushions finished so I started hunting for inspiration photos.

Pinterest
I saw this picture over on Pinterest and fell in love with the red gingham.

At Home Arkansas
Then I came across this picture. I fell instantly head over heels for everything in this picture to include that stop dead in your tracks chandy which btw costs both of my children!;) It looks like the legs on the table may be black. It is hard to tell though.

So which would you choose the red gingham or the khaki gingham fabric or another fabric all together?

I am hoping to have this set completed in the next week or at the most two weeks depending on the fabric. I want to get it ready and sold so somebody can enjoy using it for Thanksgiving!

If you are wondering about the Maison Blanche Paint I am using for this project it is a chalk based paint. I fell in love with all the colors there are to choose from and when I saw that they carry a true black I was sold! If you want to try it out for your self I know several fabulous gals who sell it!

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED POST!! I try out every new paint that comes out on my own. I purchased it and it has NOT been given to me. All my opinions are my own and I would not share something I would not buy myself.

Now back to the fabulous gals who sell this paint.
My bloggy pal Shannon over at Fox Hollow Cottage has an online shop.
If you hop on over and pay Shannon a visit you can see some of her fabulous projects with Maison Blanch Paint like this AWESOME harlequin coffee table. She even shows you how to create one of your own!!

Nena at NCF studios has an online shop as well but for those of you in the local Houston, Tx area you can go and visit Nena at her studio and see all the fabulous Maison Blanche colors in person!! I warn you though you probably will walk out of there with more than one quart of paint!;) She also has it for sale at The Antique Gallery in Spring, Tx.

Sunday Morning

A cold front moved into South East Texas last night so we woke up to 53 degree weather. Is is overcast and windy so when I took baby girl outside it was rather cold. I came  inside and decided that a pumpkin spice latte was in order while I worked on some new posts.

The Hubster isn't up yet so I turned on the fireplace. I know he will fuss and say it is too early to be doing that like he always does but I know a certain somebody will appreciate it.

On Friday the boys and I went to Target and I found this huge blow mold jack o lantern bucket. I LOVE blow molds so I had to buy it. It was only $6.99!

What does one do with a huge blow mold jack o lantern you may be wondering?

Ya find a cute puppy and place her in it for a photo op!;) Needless to say she as not amused and this lasted all of 2 minutes maybe.

The house is just starting to come to life now and this is the certain somebody who I said would appreciate the fire. Sophie LOVES it when it is fireplace weather!

I will be back later today with a post on the project I am working on right now so be sure to come back by if ya get a chance and want to see.

Have a blessed Sunday y'all!
