Tangerine Tango

These were part of the haul I purchased last weekend. Since I sunk all of my spending money into that haul I decided that I wanted that money back and got right to work.

Remember me telling y'all that these pieces were orange? I wasn't joking. I shared this pic on my blog FB page and Beth from Final Touches Redesign named it "Tangerine Tango". I thought that was hysterical and quite fitting!

Bye bye Tangerine Tango! I have to say this has been the best stripper I have come across. I didn't even smell it though I was outside. As far as it burning if you get it on your skin the answer would be yes but I have gotten more skilled and pretty much only had that happen once while working on these pieces.

It took three coats with the Jasco and ALOT of hand sanding but I accomplished getting off all of the Tangerine Tango from the tops!

I could hear them telling me thank you!;)
Next up came the staining. This is just one coat. I can't wait to apply the second coat tomorrow.

After working on them for four hours in the heat I decided to call it quits for the day.
These are the knobs that were on the tables but I am pretty sure they are not the original ones. I am on the hunt for replacement original ones.

The original pulls should look like the top of an old skeleton key. Wish me luck! If you have seen any let me know!:)

Little Changes

I just recently freshened up the vignette by the fireplace with a few small changes.

My favorite decorating books were already here. I just displayed them in a different manner.

I purchased this cute little magnifying glass at The Old Oak Cottage months and just now decided to put it out.

I also pulled back out my favorite picture of all time of my mom and her family! I wired the frame to the wreath to make it look like it is just floating in the wreath.

The biggiest change in the space is my newest HomeGoods purchase. You may have spotted this lamp when I posted the reveal to the frenchy desk not too long ago. When I saw this lamp I knew I HAD to have it.

So there ya have it. Just a few little changes.
Hope y'all are having a great day!

Treasure Hunt Thursday #62 & Highlights

Another week has just flown by! Where does the time go? Since summer is in full swing here I have been busy working on projects that I have started over the past few months and just never seemed to finish. I know The Hubster sure appreciates it!;) Other than that we have just been chilling at the pool and enjoying our time together. I hope that everybody else is having a grand summer thus far too! I am starting to find some time to visit everybody in blogland again so that has been fun!
Last week we had a great party with some new faces! I just love seeing new faces drop by to party with us!

One of those new faces was Must Love Junk and she shared a gorgeous hallway in her home. Her home is just amazing all around so if you have not been by to visit with her be sure you do!

Ann from Rooms By Ann shared this fabulous buffet that she recently scored!

Daisy Mae Belle shared with us her backyard garden and entertaining space. It is wonderful. I wish she could come over and help me do our backyard!;)

And speaking of gardens Miss Fibbertigibbet shared some wonderful garden ideas. I love this pot topiary!

As always thank you to all who partied last week! I am so truly honored to have such talent partying at my place! If you were featured please feel free to grab the "I've Been Featured" button!:) I have the newly updated button with html code on my sidebar!

What would be a HUGE help and encourage more comments not just from me but others as well would be for everybody to take off their required verification codes for leaving a comment. This seems to take just a few seconds of time but when you have to do it on 30 or more blogs it takes up a TON of time. Last week most everybody had turned off their Word Verification which made it so much easier for me to stop by everybody's links! Thank you!

READ THE RULES PLEASE!:)
Now on to this weeks party!
As with all parties there are the normal rules. You must link back to From My Front Porch To Yours in your THT POST. Just common courtesy. If ya don't link back ya don't get to party. Only link up to your Treasure Hunt Thursday post and NOT your blog homepage. Please No advertising and PLEASE NO MORE than 3 links from the SAME party goer. Also NO MORE linking up to your own link parties. I am seeing more and more link ups of just people promoting their own linky parties. I know it takes time to go back and make a separate post to join the party but it is just the polite thing to do. If you find your post deleted it is not because I am a meany, I just have to make sure the rules are being followed. You can save some of your posts for the following weeks party! Please only link up new posts and not posts that you linked up the week before. Also be sure to visit at least the link before you and after you to just say Hi! It makes partying all the more fun! If you are new around here I would love it if ya become a follower!:)

Meet Simone

I lucked up on this solid wood french provincial dresser back in May.
She was pretty heavy and sat in the front office for a few weeks till I decided what path I wanted to go with her.
Old White played a big part in her make over.
Next up came some CoCo and some gold gilding wax.
And here she is today!
My desire was to make it look as old and frenchy as possible. If you like things perfect then this probably won't be a favorite of yours.
I love how the gilding makes it pop!
All the different depths and crackles really make this piece come to life.

Tip to those who may not have tried the gilding wax yet do NOT wipe clear wax on top of it. It will take the gold right off!:(

Orange Blossom Square

While on vacation we always take time out to head to the outlets in Foley, AL. This year was no exception but unlike years in the past it was crowded and we didn't need that much so we were in and out in less than two hours. That left us some time to kill. I so wanted to head over towards Mobile and visit one of Linda's from Coastal Charm spaces. She has a space at a place called Cotton City Antiques and from what I read it is over 12,000 sq ft of vendors!! I would have been in heaven but sadly enough it was just to far to drive. Next year though I told The Hubster we were stopping on the way in!
I was determined to get some treasure hunting in though so I drove down the road aways and came across a place that had some true eye candy! The Nana actually spotted it.
Orange Blossom Square takes up an entire block! How I ever missed it on the way in I will never know. We have driven by it for years.
It is pure delight from the moment you step inside! I fell instantly in love with that chandy and would love to have it in our foyer even if it is a little over the top. It is gorgeous!
I had take some pics of the window displays. The walls are made from you guessed it pallets! Again more yummy chandys! Pardon the cutie patootie off to the side there!;)
I almost purchased that vintage watering can.
This side board was just gorgeous!
A beautiful plastic picture frame dressed up with what I think is chalk paint and some wax.
I thought long and hard over that bread bowl. It was in great condition but alas the $140 price and the lack of space deterred me.
I loved this roo pillow but at $38 I figured I could attempt my own version.
They had room after room filled with goodies. This room was their mark down room. Can you picture that armoire painted in some frenchy goodness!?
Another awesome set marked down and I know if it had been painted it would have sold right away. Just look at all the ornate detail on the table!
This mirror was HUGE and half off. Again lack of space.
I spotted an area where all lamps were just $20. I will get back to that in a moment.
This vintage sled was just $60 and if I had had the room it would have come home with me. I already have my moms old sled she had as a child but this would have been great addition.
I liked so many things in this picture. The ladder type table and the old scale. Now that I look at it I even love the old fishing basket there that I didn't notice at the time.

Orange Blossom Square is a must visit if you are heading to the Gulf Shores/Perdido Key area. It is two stories of fabulous! Also if you get a chance stop at any of the three spaces Linda has. You can find them on her blog sidebar! I am sure they are just as dreamy!! Funny thing is is that when I told Linda I stopped at Orange Blossom she said she use to have a space there several years ago. Maybe by next year she will decide to open one up there again if I am lucky!:)
And of course I couldn't leave there without getting something! This lamp was just $20!! I had to dig to get to it and was not sure it was even suppose to be in that section but the gals said yep and I said SOLD! Its not vintage or anything but I really like it. The shades need a makeover because they are dirty but otherwise its perfect. I also purchased three matching blue mason jars with zinc lids. I can't find my pic of those right now though so I will have to share those once I put them wherever it is they are going to go.
