It has been 5 years since we completed this project. It has held up fine but with that said we did the exact same thing for a table we but for our breakfast nook that gets daily use by two boys. It is 3 years old and has held up just fine to daily ware and trust me it gets abused!:) The top was sealed with poly meant for water. Maybe that's why it didn't get very dark. Tannin in the tea helps the vinegar solution to darken the wood. I'm very interested in making a new table top for my table so this is very helpful.
